Former members as well as new members are encouraged to send in their renewal or application. "We have also placed the membership form on our web site www.edmonsonchamber.com," said Chamber Director, Rhonda Clemmons. "Anyone interested in joining the Chamber can simply print their form and submit their application." Clemmons said that the Chamber of Commerce is funded strictly by memberships. She also noted that the Chamber offers an office line with toll free calling and an answering service to assist anyone trying to locate goods and services being offered in the community. "We offer our organization as a resource guide to promote your business or service," she said. "In addition, we strive to improve the economic condition for our county, promote business opportunities, and exchange experiences and ideas through networking." photo courtesy of BPD The Brownsville Police Department has announced that a new officer was sworn in on Monday, January 4th at city hall. Officer Dustin Harvey, from Bowling Green, took the oath in the presence of city officials and has already begun his duties. Originally from Columbia, KY, he said Brownsville and Edmonson County are very similar to Adair County, and that he is enjoying the area already. "I'm very excited to be in Brownsville," Officer Harvey said. "It's always been a dream of mine to work in law enforcement, and I couldn't ask for a better place to begin my career. The folks here have been nothing but helpful, so far." Officer Harvey is a 2012 graduate of Western Kentucky University. He said he's already been on patrol and is getting familiar with Brownsville. He said he was also looking forward to working with the department's personnel. "Chief Jewell and Sgt. Dennis have been great," he said. "I couldn't ask for better mentors and people." Monday, January 4, 2016 photo Edmonson Voice The boat ramp at Houchin Ferry is temporarily closed because of river mud, left behind when Green River receded. It will reopen as soon as park staff can clear the ramp of mud. Park staff have barricaded the launch area. The Houchin Ferry Campground and picnic area are open. We put together a short survey together a few weeks ago with hopes of becoming a better news organization while making the Edmonson Voice a better site for everyone to enjoy.
While most of you probably aren't interested in all the numbers, stats, and such, we wanted to share the results of one category that we've been looking into for several months, and that was whether or not we should include news from outside the county.
It's also interesting to note that 79% of you don't want us to change a thing, and to keep up the good work. 10% said our site is good, just needs a few adjustments, and less than 2% said we need a major overhaul. We got some really good suggestions, and we've already begun working on how we can add them to our many features and pages. Thanks for taking time out of your busy schedules to let us know how we're doing. We're happy with the results, but we also see where we need to make improvements, thanks to you, our readers. |
