Several Attend Live Event, Thousands Watch Video Stream Moriah Peterson, photos:
There was a great turnout at the first ever Edmonson Voice Meet the Candidates event, on Friday night May 4th, hosted by D93's Tony Rose. Two dozen candidates came to speak to the live audience and the thousands watching through live video stream. The video feeds had already been viewed more than 7,000 times as of Sunday evening. Most incumbents discussed their accomplishments and focused on continuing their work while challengers spoke to changes that some felt were needed. Races with the most interest seemed to be the District 19 State Representative, County Judge Executive, and Sheriff. The State Rep seat is currently held by Edmonson County native Michael Lee Meredith (R). He is challenged by republican candidate Brian K. Strow, from Bowling Green, and democratic candidates Jacob Moore from Brownsville, William "Bill" Fishback, from Bowling Green, and Daniel Johnson, also from Bowling Green. Judge Executive Wil Cannon (R) is seeking re-election and is being challenged by current District 6 Magistrate Mark Woosley (D). The Sheriff's race has several challengers as well with democrat Pat Haycraft and republican opponents Kenneth R. Heath and Amanda Coniglio, who are all running against republican Sheriff Shane Doyle. Charles Pendelton is also running as a democrat but did not attend the event. You can hear each candidate's speech by clicking here to view the event video.

Enjoy the video below: Sheriff's Office Recovers Stolen Property: Lexington Man Now Faces Multiple Charges In Two Unrelated Cases Darren Doyle, story: A Lexington man involved in an Ollie Road rollover accident on April 21, 2018 is now facing charges from a home invasion at the residence of an 84 year-old woman that occured on April 19th. Edmonson County Sheriff Shane Doyle responded to the home of Mrs. Maxine Lashley, (84) where she told the sheriff that two masked intruders broke into her home while she was in bed around 6am on April 19th. According to officials, Mrs. Lashley reported that one man, later identified as Anthony Dale (41) of Lexington, held her in the bed by the throat as he snatched her medical alert necklace from her neck. During the incident, Mrs. Lashley's home was ransacked and a flatscreen TV was taken along with her purse and contents. "I arrived and documented the scene but the only trace evidence present was a shoe print on the front door where it was kicked in," said Sheriff Doyle. "It wasn't much, but at least it was something." Doyle said the sheriff's office had some early leads but they were all dead ends. Two days later, a neighbor reported a break-in at an unoccupied house on Gap Hill Road and followed the suspect, which was also identified as Anthony Dale. Dale overturned his vehicle in an attempt to get away and was taken to Vanderbilt Hospital. Through investigation and witness interviews of the Gap Hill burglary and accident that occured on Ollie Road, the Edmonson County Sheriff's office was able to locate a motel room in Cave City where Dale was staying. The Sheriff's Office recovered shoes from the motel that matched the print on the door from the earlier home invasion, along with the stolen TV from Mrs. Lashley's home. An arrest warrant was obtained for Dale and he was taken into Vanderbilt Police custody immediately following his release from the hospital. He was lodged in the Davidson County Jail on a $150,000 bond where he awaits extradition to Kentucky. Sheriff Doyle said that Dale faces Burglary 2nd, Theft, Fleeing and Evading first charges, and multiple counts of Wanton Endangerment in the Gap Hill Road burglary upon extradition. In addition, he also faces Robbery 2nd degree and Theft charges from the home invasion on Segal Road. Sheriff Doyle also said even more charges for Dale are likely pending the next Grand Jury. "It's always difficult to solve burglaries and recover stolen property," said Doyle. "Thanks to great work from Deputy Stoney Phillips, that's not the case here. We're thankful Mrs. Lashley wasn't injured in this incident and she is on her way to recovering." Doyle said a suspected accomplice has been identified where additional charges are pending. Kentucky State Police also assisted in the case. Edmonson District Court was held on Tuesday, May 1, 2018. The Honorable Judge Joseph B. Hines presiding.
