Community cornerstone and long time local business Bank of Edmonson County has announced their plans for a new branch to be located in nearby Smiths Grove. The bank filed a legal notice with the FDIC on December 11, 2014 requesting the new branch. They predict the request will be completed and approved sometime in early January. “Bank of Edmonson County is extremely excited about the opportunity to serve the Smiths Grove community," said Bank CEO Michelle Coleman. "We want the people of Smiths Grove to have a convenient banking location in their community and we wish to provide our local decision making and superior customer service. We invite them to visit our locations on Louisville Road in Bowling Green or Main Street in Brownsville during the FDIC application and construction process.” Currently, there is only one local bank in Smiths Grove, PNC Bank, but it will be closing in February, 2015. Bank of Edmonson County plans on breaking ground in the spring of 2015 and hopes to be open and operating in the fall, later in the year. The new bank will be located at 156 Main Street in the center of town. Darren Doyle Edmonson Voice
