On Monday, December 8th around 7pm, Edmonson County dispatch was notified of a reckless driver that had crashed in a yard at the 7500 block of Brownsville Rd. Officer Garth Avery and Deputy Wally Ritter arrived on scene and found no one in the vehicle or around it.
Shortly after, officers were notified that the vehicle had been borrowed by Sonino Jeffries of Cave City and Korey Baize of Indianapolis, from a Steven Doty of Park City. Doty reported that Jeffries had borrowed the vehicle around 4 pm for a short trip to Park City and back. Doty stated that it had been several hours and he had not heard from them.
Jeffries and Baize were found walking on Brownsville Road just a short distance from the residence on foot.
Both were charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle, leaving the scene of an accident/failure to render aid and Criminal Mischief 1st degree. Both were lodged in Hart County Jail. ECSO was assisted in the case by KSP and BCPD.
