Cannon Issues Executive Order Closing All County Government Buildings & Sites To Public

Edmonson County Judge Executive Wil Cannon has issued an executive order that has closed all county governmental buildings and spaces to the public, effective immediately. 

County Finance Officer Tammi Willhite said county workers are still reporting to their offices  at this time and taking calls or emails.

"We are planning on having fiscal court on Monday but will be practicing social distancing and having everyone sit farther apart, it will be a shorter meeting than usual," she said.

​She also added that the item list for the fiscal court will contain only the necessities for county business in order to move the meeting along as quickly and efficiently as possible.

CLOSURE OF COUNTY GOVERNMENT BUILDINGS
 
For the purposes of maintaining social distancing under the CDC guidelines and under the directives from the President of the United States and the Governor of Kentucky, in order to promote the health and well-being of the general public to reduce the community spread of disease, please be advised of the following:
 
As part of our continuing efforts to confront and limit the spread of COVID-19, all Edmonson County Government Offices are required to cease providing in-person government services to the public beginning at 8:00 a.m. on March 18, 2020, with limited exceptions. In order to carry out this directive, all Constitutionally Elected Officials and agency heads shall adhere to the following protocol:
 

• All buildings and sites providing county government services, shall be closed to the public and to the extent possible, all in-person county government services shall be provided by the following methods: mail, fax, email, videoconferencing, any internet-based methods, telephone or by appointment only under emergency needs;
• Employees are prohibited from providing nonessential in-person county government services outside of government buildings or sites;
• In the limited circumstances where government in-person services are still provided, all county government employees should engage in social distancing as defined by the CDC.[1]
