County Clerk’s Office Introduces DocAlert to Help Protect Residents from Property Fraud

The Edmonson County Clerk’s Office has announced the launch of DocAlert, a new program that they say gives residents added protection against property fraud and unauthorized filings.

DocAlert is a free service that notifies property owners by email whenever a document is recorded in the Clerk’s Office using their name. This allows residents to act quickly if they believe a filing is fraudulent or suspicious.

“Property is one of our most valuable assets, and our office is committed to helping residents safeguard it,” said Kevin Alexander, Edmonson County Clerk. “With DocAlert, citizens now have a simple way to stay informed and protect themselves from property-related fraud.”

How DocAlert Works:

• Sign up for free through the Clerk’s website (edmonsoncountyclerk.ky.gov)
• Choose the names you want monitored.
• Get notified by email whenever a document is filed under those names.

The clerk's office said the program adds a new layer of security for homeowners, business owners, and anyone who wants peace of mind about their property records. DocAlert is made possible through the clerk's existing land records system at no additional cost to taxpayers.

“Fraudulent property filings can be difficult to detect until damage is already done,” Alexander added. “DocAlert gives residents an early warning system so they can address problems quickly.”
