At today's May 9, 2016 Fiscal Court meeting, Judge Executive Wil Cannon presented the first copy of the proposed 2016-17 fiscal year county budget, currently estimated at $4.6 million dollars. It was only a preliminary discussion that will likely lead up to an eventual agreed budget within the next few weeks. Court officials said as of now, it doesn't appear that there is any major change since last year's budget, other than an approximate $300,000 increase for the new proposed Lincoln Fire Sub Station, but a $279K grant recently awarded to the county will offset the increase. The county's fiscal year runs from July through June. The total preliminary budget is a $59,000 increase from last year's figures, mostly coming from cost of living increases and county jail and prisoner transport costs associated with prisoner medical expenses. A final budget will be voted on within the next few weeks.
