Chad Johnston will leave his role as assistant principal at ECHS to become the next principal at the Edmonson County 5/6 Center, Superintendent of Schools Brian Alexander announced today. Mr. Johnston has spent the last two years at ECHS in the assistant's role and also served that same role for one year at Grayson County High. He has a total of 14 years in education. Johnston said he is excited for the opportunity at the 5/6 Center. "I want to thank the staff at Edmonson County High School for accepting me from day one and treating me with respect," he added. "I also want to thank the Edmonson County 5/6 Center SBDM Council for their confidence in me. I look forward to the opportunity to work with the great staff at the 5/6 Center and to put in the necessary work for doing what is best for the students of Edmonson County." In addition to his prior experience in Edmonson County, he also completed his student teaching at ECHS back in 2007 and also served as assistant baseball coach in 2008. Superintendent Alexander also spoke to the Edmonson Voice about the hiring of Mr. Johnston. "We're extremely pleased to see Mr. Johnston move forward to the leadership role of principal of the Edmonson County 5/6 Center," he said. "The SBDM Council at the 5/6 Center worked very hard to do a thorough job of finding the right person to replace Mr. Rex Booth. I expect great things going forward for the Edmonson County 5/6 Center." Mr. Johnston also has two sons, Eli, age 11 and Sawyer, age 7.
