Darren Doyle, story:
Edmonson County Superintendent of Schools Brian Alexander has announced that all local schools will remain closed to in-person instruction until January 4, 2021, in accordance with state guidelines. On November 18th, Governor Andy Beshear announced the closing of in-person schools until at least January 4th with elementary schools having the option to reopen on December 7th if those counties were not in the red zone; however, local schools say they will remain closed for now. "Currently, Edmonson County's index exceeds the threshold for reopening for elementary schools on December 7th, with numbers expected to rise throughout the remainder of the week," said Supt. Alexander in a released statement. "After a great deal of thought and consideration, as well as discussion with the Barren River Health Department, it is our decision to announce that all schools will remain closed for In-Person learning. The health of the students, staff, and the families of Edmonson County is always of great importance to Edmonson County Schools and our Board. Our schools will continue to offer virtual learning options for the remainder of the semester through December 18, 2020. As always, we appreciate the cooperation of the students, parents and families of Edmonson County during this time." Alexander also said that Edmonson County Schools eagerly anticipate a return to In-Person instruction on January 4, 2021, and added that the school system looks forward to In-Person learners returning to the staggered schedule. "It is our hope that everyone remains safe during the holiday season, and we wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year," he said.

This is very sad as so many children are gonna fall behind 2 years of education. Parents did not attend college to be teachers. As a matter of fact most parents work now a days. So leaves small portions of time to help their children learn school work. And the most ridiculous thing is teachers food staff exc. are still going to school daily which makes no sense since kids dnt experience bad symptoms but others do. It’s very sad for our children that politics have affected their education!

I sure don’t want to hear a word about cats testing and performance after this. I may be the only one but know it’s a struggle for my kid. This is ridiculous and no reason these kids should not be in school.
