Darren Doyle, story: Today is the 10-year anniversary of Edmonson County's all-digital news network, The Edmonson Voice. All this week, we'll be sharing some of the first articles we published back in 2014. Some of these articles were written at the end of August 2014 as we prepared to launch the site on September 2, 2014. In August of 2014, I had an epiphany in the middle of the night, where the idea to start the business first came to me. I had worked as a professional musician, producing and recording music, and giving private lessons for the last several years. That business model had changed with the explosion of social media and ways to self-promote business wasn't so great. The next morning, I began trying to figure out how to build a website--something I'd never done before. Ten days later, I had the first working model of EdmonsonVoice.com and we launched on September 2nd. While the day-to-day news and publishing operations are directed by me, we now have a staff of nine people that work to bring you the content published on the Voice.
When comparing my ID badges from now vs. 10 years ago, there sure is a lot more gray hair, but luckily, I still wear the shirt that's in my first photo. That's something, right? Right? We've learned a lot over the past decade and we're constantly trying to improve everything we do. One thing that hasn't changed is the fact that, despite her flaws, Edmonson County is still the best place on Earth, and we feel very blessed to be able to work and live here. Throughout the week, you'll see some of favorite and most-viewed articles published over the years, as well as tidbits of trivia and info about the Edmonson Voice.
