Mammoth Cave Man Allegedly Caught in Separate Acts of Burglary , Arrested Soon After

A Mammoth Cave man faces multiple charges after being arrested in two separate alleged burglary attempts on Sunday.

According to the Edmonson County Sheriff's Office, deputies were dispatched to a residence on Moon Road on September 28th to the report of a burglary in process.

Upon arrival, the homeowner reported that an unidentified male attempted to forcibly enter the residence but fled the scene prior to law enforcement's arrival, the sheriff's office stated. While conducting a search of the surrounding area, deputies reportedly observed a vehicle matching the suspect’s description parked in the yard of a nearby residence. As deputies approached to investigate, the other property owner contacted them and stated that a male subject had attempted to also break into his vehicle, subsequently entered the home, and eventually got into homeowner’s bed, according to the sheriff's office.

Deputies located the suspect inside the residence and reportedly issued multiple verbal commands for him to comply. The individual was identified as Randall Ferguson, 28, of Mammoth Cave, who law enforcement said appeared to be under the influence of a stimulant.

As deputies attempted to take Mr. Ferguson into custody, he resisted arrest but was detained after a brief struggle and transported to the Hart County Jail without further incident, according to the sheriff's office. He remains on a $5,000 cash bond, according to the jail.

• Menacing
• Burglary, 2nd Degree
• Resisting Arrest
