Wet, slippery roads were said to be the cause of a single vehicle rollover crash this morning on KY HWY 728, near the "S" curves on Nolin Dam Road. The Edmonson County's Sheriff's office said that Joseph W. Meredith Jr. (28) of Sunfish was headed east on 728 when he lost control of a 1999 Chevy Tracker. Officials said the vehicle left the roadway, rolled over, and crashed into an embankment. Sheriff Shane Doyle said Meredith was wearing his seat belt during the crash, which he said greatly reduced the risk of injury. He also said volunteers helped at the scene. "We appreciate the help we received from the KY State Highway Department as they directed traffic," Doyle said. "Also, thanks to Jerry Shields, of Shields towing. He was passing by and volunteered to pull the vehicle from the ditch and move to a safer spot until AAA could arrive and recover the vehicle. The scene was safely cleared about an hour and a half faster thanks to these folks."
