A Brownsville man is facing a felony theft arrest after an acquaintance accused him of stealing and wrecking his car after he stayed with him, according to a press release from the Edmonson County Sheriff's Office. Deputies responded to the stolen vehicle complaint around 5am on Sunday, September 27th, where Andrew Taylor, the owner of the vehicle, reportedly said that the suspect named Ryan Minton stayed at his residence the night before and when Taylor woke up, both Minton and the vehicle were gone. Taylor said Minton had no permission or reason to use his car, according to the Sheriff's Office. The Sheriff's Office said through the investigation, deputies were able to locate the vehicle in a residential driveway on KY HWY 259N, where Minton was sitting on the front porch. Minton was charged with Theft by Unlawful Taking or Disposition Auto--$500 or more but under $10,000 According to the Sheriff's Office, Minton stated he had left Taylor’s residence in the vehicle around 5:00 am that morning, heading to Smiths Grove, where he wrecked the vehicle on the way. Minton allegedly then stated he drove the vehicle to his own residence and then to the residence where he was located. Minton was lodged in Hart County Jail.
