On Thursday, February 26th, the Edmonson County Sheriff's Office welcomed Jimmy Coniglio, a new special deputy, to the force. Jimmy is a resident of the Lincoln Community. He retired from the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office (Florida). He was a Firearms Instructor for the department, and also worked as a corrections officer for Hillsborough county prior to his time as a Deputy.
Special Deputies in Kentucky are duly sworn law enforcement officers with full arrest powers that are volunteer only. According to Sheriff Shane Doyle, special deputies are utilized in the county for various activities from lake patrols, paper service, and funeral details to provide backup for certified officers and general patrol.
