Peytin Manor, story and photos: On November 22nd, the Edmonson County community gathered together to kick off the Christmas season with the annual “Light the Square”, presented by the Edmonson County Art Guild. The event had approximately twenty-four vendors ranging from student-led organizations to food trucks. However, attendees enjoyed many more fun activities that included: carriage rides, pony rides, a petting zoo, a full model train, decorated Christmas trees, the Grinch, Santa’s Elves, and Buddy the Elf. The SEE and Kyrock Elementary School choirs sang Christmas carols during the event. President of the Edmonson County Art Guild, Phyllis Miller, stated, “Light the Square started last year when several organizations got together and started talking about decorating the square with trees, we have been blessed that the community has supported the idea and it has become a true community event. Working together we can make great things happen in Edmonson County.” According to the Art Guild, the following groups and organizations decorated a tree for Light the Square: Edmonson County Art Guild, 4-H South Edmonson Elementary School, 4-H Kyrock Elementary School, Edmonson County Homemakers, Edmonson County Public Library, Edmonson County Lions Club, Edmonson County Judge Executive, EC Cheerleaders, Cubs Scouts, Sweet and Sassy, 4-H Horse Club, 4-H Teen, ECHS DECA, ECHS HOSA, Edmonson County Child Protection, Edmonson County Arts Council, A Plus, C&A Plumbing, FRYSC, Edmonson Drug, City of Brownsville, and Edmonson Center.
The annual Lions Club Christmas Parade is scheduled for this Saturday, November 29th at 6PM. The event will be livestreamed by the Edmonson Voice.

Our first Christmas here and we had a wonderful time. Favorite part was the kids singing and the carriage ride. Thanks for all the hard work that goes into putting this together.
