Edmonson Voice Staff Report
Firefighters were called out to the Brownsville Post Office Sunday afternoon when an area resident said they heard the fire alarm sounding from the property.
A thorough search of the premises resulted in no smoke, fire, nor emergency, but rather a faulty alarm. One firefighter said a possible cause for the malfunction was dust buildup on one of the alarm sensors.
Brownsville Police Jeff Jewel said another possibility was a low-battery backup that caused the alarm to sound.
The Brownsville Fire Department also made a return trip later that day followed by an additional response by the Brownsville Police Department.
