The Edmonson County Sheriff's Office is proud to announce the addition of a new deputy as of Monday afternoon. Deputy Amanda Coniglio was sworn in Monday at 1:00 by Sheriff Shane Doyle.
Deputy Coniglio worked for the Hillsborough County (FL) Sheriff's Office, where she retired last year. Amanda is originally from Edmonson County, and still has several family connections here. She and her husband, Jimmy, who was sworn in last month at a special deputy, are both retirees from Hillsborough County, and bring nearly 40 years of law enforcement experience between the two of them.
"Amanda is the first female deputy sheriff in around 20 years for this county," Sheriff Doyle said. "She is highly trained in many different areas, and we are very excited to have her on our staff."
Sheriff Doyle said that there are many advantages to having a female officer in a time where liability issues dominate the news. Amanda will assist in courtroom security and with searches of female suspects, in addition to her normal patrol duties.
