The Edmonson County Chamber of Commerce has announced that some of Saturday's planned events for the Big Brownsville Bash have been postponed, due to a rainy forecast on June 1st. Chamber Vice President Josh Casey, who is one of the coordinators for the event, said the decision came this morning. "We have been monitoring the weather for the last week and we felt it was best to postpone some of our Saturday events," he said. "We were hopeful that the weather would cooperate, but at this point, Saturday looks like it won't be a good day for some of outdoor activities." Those activities include the Big Bash Car Show, which brings hundreds of people to the square each year, plus, the inflatables for the kids, the food truck alley on Washington Street, and of course, the huge fireworks show that was planned for HWY 70 ball park this year. "We are working now to find a new date for these events, and we plan to reschedule them all for the same date," said Casey. He noted that the remaining events, besides the Canoe and Kayak Challenge which has already been postponed due to flooded river conditions, will take place. "We already had a very successful Baby Show last night," he said. "Tonight, we are looking forward to our Truck Cruise and a sneak peek at our Arts, Crafts, and Vendor Show inside the Community Center, which is also scheduled to take place on Saturday. Our inside events won't be affected and we encourage folks to come on out. In addition, our Arts Guild display and the 4-H exhibits will still be set up at the Heritage Centre both Friday and Saturday." Casey also said the 5K run and 1M walk is still scheduled to take place on Saturday, despite the wet forecast, as the organizers of the event said weather is not a factor unless they are severe thunderstorms or lightning, which is currently not in the forecast. We'll pass along further information and a new date once it becomes available.
