Darren Doyle, story:
Edmonson County Fiscal Court appointed Terry "Moose" Massey as the new county Emergency Management Director today, after the resignation of former director Rob McGuffey was recently accepted.
Massey has served in local emergency services in various forms for the past 35 years.
"I want people in Edmonson County to be safe and I want them to feel safe," he said. "An emergency management director has to be prepared and that's what I want to be. I want to plan for the worst but pray for the best."
"Moose," by which most locals know him, is an active member of both the Chalybeate and Brownsville Fire Departments and has worked for the Edmonson County Ambulance Service, the local rescue squad, the Richardsville Fire Department, and is a certified scuba diver. He also is a Fire Service Instructor and regularly teaches classes in that field.
"I've tried to spend my lifetime helping others and this is another way for me to do that," he said. "I love it."
Massey will assume his duties immediately.
