![]() Darren Doyle, Editor Six weeks ago we launched Edmonson County's first online news source. I'm amazed that in only these six weeks, we have been visited almost 100,000 times. Yes, it's hard for me to believe as well. There were many questions as to why I was the guy behind this. Things like, 1. "I thought you were a musician, what do you know about the news?" Or, 2. "Why are you doing this?" And, 3. "Are you trying to make enemies with the local paper?" They're all good questions. Here are the answers: 1. Yes, I'm a professional musician, but I've also been involved with music marketing, working with newspapers, radio and tv stations, and web marketing. I've also had the opportunity to work with ESPN Radio to cover the Cincinnati Reds, The Louisville Bats, The Dayton Dragons, and the Bowling Green Hot Rods. I've seen how online media works and how important it is today. I still work everyday in my studio and will continue to do so. 2. I saw an opportunity to provide a service to my home county while there was a market to do so. This is the greatest county in the world, that's why I live and work here. Why not use the resources I've gained over the years to bring something new and enjoyable to EC? Lastly, 3. No, there is no enemy with the local paper. In fact, we regularly work together, sharing information with each other. They are my dear friends and I want nothing but a positive working relationship between us for the betterment of all. Thanks to all our sponsors, because without them, we'd already be shut down. We're gaining more each month, and hope to continue moving forward. Thank you, readers. Your comments and emails have been overwhelmingly supportive to our cause. We've had a few folks that don't like what we're doing, and that's ok, too. Please, keep reading, commenting, emailing, and interacting with us through Facebook and Twitter. We ask that you continue to tell folks about us. Please share our information on social media, talk about us at the dinner table, and keep telling your friends and family. Thanks also to our contributors. Each one has done a tremendous job taking photos, writing stories, and providing the info we need in order to bring our news to you. We will continue to work hard, learn, stay up-to-date, and do our best to maintain a legitimate, relevant news source for Edmonson County. Again, thanks for everything so far. The Edmonson Voice is here to stay and we're looking forward to what the future holds.
