Darren Doyle, story and photo: Emergency workers responded to the scene of a two-vehicle collision on HWY 259N near the Hilltop intersection on Wednesday afternoon. According to the Brownsville Police Department, Caitlyn Dennison, (19) of Mammoth Cave was headed north on 259 in a Honda sedan and attempted to turn left into a parking lot. According to police, the Honda entered into the path of a Toyota sedan driven by Joy Tucker, (82) of Brownsville, who was southbound. The vehicles collided and each came to rest of the roadway. Tucker and an unnamed passenger were transported to the Medical Center in Bowling Green for non-life threatening injuries. One juvenile passenger from the Honda was also transported with non-life threatening injuries. Police said that Dennison and other passengers refused medical treatment on scene, **however; we received a phone call from someone claiming to be a friend of the family who would not give their name that gave a contradicting report. The caller said that the driver also went to the hospital and was treated. Brownsville Police, who was in charge of the investigation, said they were not aware of anyone else being transported.
The road was partially shut down for about a half hour while emergency crews worked at the scene. Also responding to the scene were the Brownsville and Kyrock Fire Departments and Edmonson EMS. **UPDATE: April 25, 2019: This article was updated to show that since the original article, the number of individuals transported to the hospital and treated was disputed.
