![]() Today at approximately 3:30 PM, the Edmonson County Sheriff's Department responded to a call of two unresponsive men in a vehicle at the Dollar General Store in Chalybeate. Upon arrival, Sheriff-Elect Shane Doyle and Sheriff Wil Cannon said that they found Bobby J. Lindsey, 24, and Travis S. Thomas, 18, both of Chalybeate, unconscious in a Ford Contour belonging to Lindsey. After both suspects were awakened and became responsive, they were issued simple field sobriety tests, which they both failed. Police found synthetic marijuana, more commonly known as "spice" in the vehicle. Both men were charged with public intoxication and possession of synthetic drugs and lodged in the Hart County Jail.
Sheriff-Elect Doyle said that synthetic drugs are especially dangerous. "They have different effects on different people, and can have a variety of effects on the same person if used more than once," he said. "We've seen vomiting, unconsciousness, and even paralysis." Edmonson Voice Staff
