Mongoose,
I read where one town in New Jersey cancelled their annual community Easter Egg hunt because an atheist group raised a big stink about it. They claimed that an egg hunt promoted a religious holiday and being that it was always held at the city park (taxpayer funded) the town should stop it. Well, they did and I can't believe it. You think anything like that will ever happen in Edmonson County? Dear Jersey Shore, The old saying goes, "the squeaky wheel gets the most grease". The First Amendment is, in my opinion, the most misunderstood of all amendments. Basically, the religious freedom portion keeps government out of religion relating to establishing a federally mandated religion. Which, in the case of many pilgrims, fled England to escape that very thing. Like it our not, our Republic was founded upon Judeo Christian principles and the United States is not a democracy, it is a Constitutional Republic. What's that mean? It means rule of law not rule of majority. Legally nothing can supersede the Constitution unless it is amended to include such. In saying this our Supreme Court, made up of 9 justices, have the sole responsibility to interpret the Constitution. The court has become, in my opinion, more biased and open to outside political interests over the last 50 years, resulting in a horrid perversion of our founding document. Can something like Jersey happen in good ole EC? Yep. He who hollers loudest wins, keep your throat clear if you don't want that to happen.
