Dear Mongoose,
Do you think it's a good idea to take down all the confederate statues that some people are so upset about? I mean, don't those statues stand for things most Americans are against like slavery and racism? Dear Statue of Limitations, In case any readers out there are unaware, let me drop an earth-shattering fact bomb: WE CURRENTLY LIVE IN 2017, THAT'S TWO THOUSAND, SEVENTEEN. The majority of the statues in question were erected over 100 years ago. My question to everyone pushing to remove these statues is this; why did you wait so long for them to bother you? I will not defend nor condemn these monuments, inspiration for them, or those whom have been honored. I have never been a slave or slaveholder, and neither has any American citizen living in America in 2017 (in the sense of pre Civil War slavery). For those condemning America, the south, etc..for slavery, keep this in mind; America was the first country in the history of the world to abolish slavery and slavery still exists all over the Middle East. I assure you, there are slaves held in those countries of all colors. -MG
