My Boss Is Mad...

Hey Mongoose,
I've been working at the same place for 17 years now. I've only been late 3 times that I can remember in the whole 17 years. Last week my truck wouldn't start and I had loaned my jump box to my neighbor the week before to start his 4 wheeler and didn't bring it back. This made me late for work. The bad part was some big wigs from Japan were there and wanted to meet with all the line leaders including me. I was 45 minutes late and my boss is mad, he demoted me!  What do I do?

Have you ever listened to Johnny Paycheck or David Allan Coe?  A couple of songs come to mind but jobs don't grow on trees these days. Although  I have seen bumper stickers that say, "Trees Grow Jobs". I would let your boss know that you've only been late 3 times previous and ask him how you are to afford reliable transportation after your demotion?  If you get no satisfaction, pop in some DAC and Johnny Paycheck, repo your jump box and start looking elsewhere. Your boss have a flattop?
