Dear Mongoose,
After reading your response to the reader referring to adults not dressing age appropriately, it got me thinking. What is the infatuation with tattoos and piercings these days? I feel as if I'm in the minority since I have neither. I am anxiously awaiting your response. Dear Perturbed Prude, Different is good, good is different. Tattoos and piercings have been around for 1,000's of years, within the last 50-75 years I would surmise the reason one would get all tatted up or stick a metal object through their skin is to rebel against society or to express individuality. Funny thing, if you want to stand out nowadays, a non ferrous, natural flesh colored arm, leg or neck, complete with natural body hair is sure to make a statement. I think I'll go as myself for Halloween next year, apparently "Insecure-Tattoo'd-Tough-Guy" is no longer a costume...it's real life. Merry Christmas, Mongoose
