The Forecast Calls For Pain

Dear mongoose,

Why is it the weather man is so wrong, so often?  It never snows when he says it's going to and if it does it's not near as much as he said it would be.  I'm getting really tired of seeing my kids let down.

Dear Frustrated for Fibbed Forecasts,

Watch the 6:00 news or call Madam Cleo on the psychic hotline, no offense to psychics, but your odds are probably about the same either way. In 1977, the cover of Time magazine warned us of the coming Ice Age, 2006--Global Warming gonna kill us all. I'm very familiar with the deflated feeling your children have once they throw back the curtains, only to discover brown grass, salty roads and a school bus right on time.  Let this be a teachable moment for your kids; you can't believe everything you see, hear or read. Explain to them no one knows for sure what tomorrow or even the next 5 minutes will bring and the truth is out there--find it for yourself. It's nowhere near as fun as being pulled down an icy road on a car hood but it is safer.
