Dear Mongoose
Can you settle an argument between me and my husband? He says the county should sell alcoholic beverages to bring more revenue to the county. I say that selling alcohol here will bring more trouble than the money's worth to a place like Edmonson County. We've both agreed to agree with you. #standwithmongoose Dear Near Beer, What does "number sign standwithmongoose"mean? Anyway...2012, the state of Colorado legalized marijuana for recreational use, touted to bring in record tax revenue and create jobs. Believe it or not it actually has, but there are costs associated with it as well. Namely teenagers and children. The percentage of youth usage and accidental exposure to the herb, ganja, Mary Jane is around 10% higher than the national average. I know what you're thinking, "we're talking about alcohol and all you have to do is drive to Bowling Green", you'd be correct in thinking that. Does that mean good ole EC should sell it? Apparently not or we would be. The beauty of wet/dry laws is that they are county or city specific. In order to be legal for sale, a ballot initiative is usually required. With as many Baptist churches around, my guess is we'll probably keep driving to Bowling Green to get our communion wine. "Everybody's gonna do it anyway", not really, just those that can make it to BG to get it or to the nearest bootlegger. Back to Colorado, 10% over a national average might not sound like much but if your child is the one in 10 you would likely think differently.
