Wikileaks: Heroes or Traitors?

Hello Mongoose,
I saw one of your tweets pertaining to the Wikileaks's deal. Do you think they're traitors and do you believe them?

Dear Tweetie,
I would have to classify Wikileaks as traitors, but would classify the leakers (i.e. employees of our own government that leaked the information to Wikileaks) traitors to a higher power. I'm no expert, but supposedly Wikileaks simply publishes information that is given to them by those in positions to either obtain the information legally or steal it. Nonetheless, sharing it is not legal and in some instances the information leaked is sensitive and could compromise military personnel, undercover operations and national security.
That being said, I feel that the existence of Wikileaks has most likely caused a few rogue agents/agencies to toe the line a bit closer due to the threat of the truth coming out via Wikileaks.
The fundamental question then becomes, does the end justify the means?  I'll have to lean towards 'no' here. Even if you don't like the rules, they still need to be followed.  I can assure you if our representatives in DC were doing their jobs, a good intentioned whistleblower could get the information through the proper channels in the hands of a congressman so that it could be investigated properly, thus giving the findings way more validity. The fallacy here is twofold, unless politically expedient, our representatives probably don't care and some are complicit to what the whistle is being blown at.
Do I believe them?  Short answer is yes. The content of the leaks are never argued, just the source. Remember Hillary, you know the one that lost the election? She never disagreed with the information-- she just blamed the messenger.  Wonder how she and Bill are doing these days... By the way, send me a tweet: @AskMongoose
