THIS CONTEST HAS ENDED ***THIS CONTEST HAS ENDED.*** Darren Doyle, story: A Kyrock preschool teacher has organized a prize basket raffle for one of her students who is currently battling leukemia. Avie-Lynn Williams, a four year-old preschool student at Kyrock Elementary is currently hospitalized at Vanderbilt Children's Hospital undergoing treatment for the second time in her very young life for B-cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, with which she was first diagnosed in March of 2023. Miss Madison Doyle, her teacher at Kyrock, who has grown close to Avie-Lynn and her parents, began searching ways she could help, being the child would be required to stay in the hospital for a minimum of 30 days for her treatment. At first, she reached out to family and friends to gather gift cards and other items to help the family, but as the items began to add up, others reached out to her and the idea of a prize basket raffle was born. According to Avie-Lynn's mother, Sabrina Williams, the child has experienced many difficulties as of late, developing infections with multiple extended hospital stays. "After a routine lumbar puncture on January 3rd, the results were flagged as suspicious activity, so she had to go back January 7th for another lumbar puncture along with a bone marrow biopsy," Sabrina said. "This time it was confirmed that Avie-Lynn relapsed in her CNS for B-cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia." A prize basket raffle is being held where tickets will be available for the next few weeks. The basket contains products and services that value over $3,000, all donated by the local community. The basket is an impressive prize for both men and women, making it great for families.
Some of the highlights include: a Henry Golden Boy .22 Rifle*, a taxidermy mount, Benchmade knife, hundreds in gift cards to restaurants, local boutiques, beauty products, toys, and much more. Tickets are $10 each and are available through EdmonsonVoice.com by clicking here, directly from Miss Madison Doyle through Venmo here, and in-person at Kyrock Elementary School through Miss Madison and Ms. Leslie Decker.** All you need to do is provide your name, best contact info, and number of tickets. The drawing will be held on Friday, February 21st live on the Edmonson Voice Facebook and YouTube pages. Sabrina, who was a teacher's aid at Kyrock has had to temporarily quit her job in order to be with Avie-Lynn at the hospital while her husband Andy continues to work and take care of their three boys at home. 100% of the funds from the raffle will go directly to the family to help with their expenses through this difficult time. Sabrina wished to send out a personal thanks to every single person who has thought about them during this trying time. "We believe with everything we have in the power of prayer," she said. "After all, a year ago, the oncology and PICU team told us they could not do anything else for Avie-Lynn. They came in and told me she was in septic shock; it was affecting her organs, and to be prepared to make decisions on her life. We called out to all of our prayer warriors, begging for prayer. I begged God with everything in me for days and nights. Within a few days she had a turnaround no doctor could understand. I know it was My GOD! We ask our prayer-belt community to keep her in their prayers to get her through this round just like it did the last time! We thank each and every person for any donation they may have made, but most importantly we are so grateful for the prayers!" ***THIS CONTEST HAS ENDED.*** *must be legally eligible to purchase a firearm, proper documentation required **not an official Edmonson County School fundraiser, it is a private cause led by a school employee Edmonson County High School has announced their 2025 basketball homecoming candidates.
