Twelve Edmonson County JAG (Jobs for America’s Graduates) students placed at the regional Career Development Conference on January 13th-15th. Senior Cariann Williams competed in the prepared speaking competition where she finished first in the region. In her speech, she discussed one aspect of JAG for which she was thankful. Seniors Sydney Blanton, Emma Lindsey, and Lola Bolton competed in the Promotional Video competition where they placed first in the region. Their video highlighted JAG by explaining what it is and why students should join. The Creative Decision Making team, made up of juniors Avery Alexander, Emma Davis, Lilly Jones, and Ellie Claire Spainhoward, placed second at the regional level. During the competition, teams report to a planning room for thirty minutes prior to their presentation. There, they are given a new prompt and collaborate to develop a solution. After the planning period, the team presents their solution to the judges. Junior Chloe Whittle competed in the Digital Outstanding Chapter competition, marking the first time ECHS JAG has participated in this event. Chloe finished second at the regional level. In this competition, contestants create a digital scrapbook highlighting the chapter’s activities from July through the competition date, including guest speakers, community service projects, and field trips. Sophomore Mollie Johnson and juniors Kylee Williams and Tayla Wilhite placed third in the PBL Showcase (Project Based Learning) competition. The PBL team delivered a presentation on block scheduling at Edmonson County High School. While ECHS currently operates on a seven-period schedule, the team demonstrated how a block schedule could be implemented at the school. The Edmonson County Public Library is inviting community members to participate in its 2026 Community Survey. Library leadership notes that the survey is not a required initiative, but rather a voluntary effort to gather genuine community input as part of future planning. The survey seeks feedback on programs, services, events, and library spaces, including Storytime, LEGO Club, adult programming, and community events. Responses are anonymous and will help guide planning for 2026 and beyond. The survey takes approximately 5–7 minutes to complete and remains open through Friday, January 23rd. In an unpredictable world, it's always good to be prepared for the worst. That's what a local business and a firefighter are hoping to help by what they are calling a project called "Stop the Bleed." It's a project that will place specific trauma kits in all of Edmonson County schools. The trauma kits will include a tourniquet, pressure dressing, chest seals, gloves, rolled gauze, shears, and an airway device. Josh Casey, owner of C&C Firearms and Outdoors is helping to coordinate the project with longtime local Brownsville VFD Firefighter Daniel Ashley. "Daniel Ashley, a lifelong firefighter, has already donated 15 of these trauma kits to Kyrock Elementary, and has provided training on how to use them," Casey told the Edmonson Voice. "With school violence on the rise and there always being the threat of severe weather or other emergency, these trauma kits could very well save someone's life." Just like everything else these days, the kits are not cheap. In order to supply all schools with a sufficient amount of kits, the group is trying to raise $5,000, as each kit costs nearly $100. The $5K raised would furnish about 60 kits total. "God forbid we ever see a tragedy take place in our school system that would necessitate the need for these, but something could happen and we feel like there is a great need to be prepared," he added. You can make a donation to this cause through the Edmonson Voice or C&C, where 100% of the proceeds will be used for the project. Visit the Voice store by clicking here and choose the amount you'd like to donate online with your credit or debit card, or you can stop by C&C Firearms and Outdoors on South Main Street in Brownsville and make a donation in person. Donations can be made in amounts anywhere from $5 to $500. THE BANK OF EDMONSON COUNTY HAS THE FOLLOWING FOR SALE:
