SCRTC Launches New Speeds and Pricing

7/6/2026

SCRTC is announcing significant upgrades to its residential and business fiber internet offerings, bringing new speeds, enhanced Wi-Fi features, and greater value to customers throughout its service area.

The new packages are designed to meet the growing demands of today's connected internet users, where work, education, entertainment, gaming, streaming, and smart home technology all compete for bandwidth. As more devices become connected in homes, reliable internet has become essential for keeping families and workplaces efficient without interruption.

"Our focus has always been on delivering the best experience possible," said Jeff Eaton, SCRTC General Manager. "That means investing in our fiber network, offering competitive pricing, and backing it all with local customer service you can’t get from other national providers."

Recognizing that every household uses the internet differently, SCRTC’s new broadband offerings include professional installation and ongoing support to help customers get the most from their service. Plans now offer at least 500Mbps symmetrical speed, meaning download and upload speeds are the same. Recognizing the importance of affordability coupled with internet speed, rates have been reduced to start at $50 per month. The new broadband internet plans are focused on helping users select their internet plans based on their lifestyle:

Power Home – 2.5 Gbps
Designed for ultra-connected households with multiple users, heavy streaming, gaming, smart home technology, and connected devices. The plan includes managed Wi-Fi, built-in cybersecurity, a router included, and free installation. $90 per month

Everyday Family – 1 Gbps
Built for modern families who regularly work, learn, game, and stream online. Features include managed Wi-Fi, cybersecurity protection, smart network controls, router included. $70 per month

Basic Living – 500 Mbps
Ideal for streaming, browsing, video calls, and everyday online activities. Includes cybersecurity protection, parental controls, managed Wi-Fi, and affordable access to SCRTC's fiber network. $50 per month

“Many current customers will see an automatic speed increase, a bill decrease and an included router,” said Christian Kaumanns, SCRTC Marketing Director. “Fast, affordable internet is vitally important,” Said Kaumanns, “But having the correct router ensures all the pieces work.”

This is the reason for a key enhancement to most new plans: the inclusion of the router with advanced managed Wi-Fi technology, giving customers greater control of their home network through the SCRTC Connect App. Customers can manage connected devices, set parental controls, monitor network performance, and protect their home network from online threats.

As homes and businesses continue to add smart TVs, security cameras, video doorbells, gaming systems, smart speakers, appliances, tablets, POS systems and other connected devices, fiber internet provides the speed and reliability necessary to support them all simultaneously.

Unlike many national providers, SCRTC combines local customer service with a fiber network built specifically for the communities it serves. Customers can speak with local representatives who understand their needs and can provide personalized support.

Edmonson County Extension Homemakers were recognized for their outstanding community service and educational programming during the Kentucky Extension Homemakers Association (KEHA) State Convention.
Edmonson Voice Report:
The Edmonson County Extension Homemakers were recognized for outstanding community service and educational programming during the Kentucky Extension Homemakers Association (KEHA) State Convention held in Lexington in May, and brought home an impressive six state awards.

The awards recognized the club's commitment to serving Edmonson County through meaningful projects and partnerships.

Honors included awards for International Projects and Programs for their "International Program Meeting," "4-H Camp Scholarships for Counties" for fundraising and providing three camp scholarships to local youth, Let No Child or Adult Go Hungry for their "Meals in a Bag" and "Blessing Box" project, and Most Innovative 4-H and Extension Homemaker Partnership for the collaborative "Blessing Box" initiative.

The county also received the 2026 KEHA Development Grant for the Homemaker Craft Circle, which will provide supplies for service projects benefiting local nursing home residents. In addition, Homemakers were recognized for Community Volunteerism through the Chalybeate Homemaker Dinner Show, which raised funds to purchase trauma kits for local schools while also supporting other community projects.

"These awards highlight the dedication of Edmonson County Homemakers and their ongoing commitment to strengthening families and improving the community through education, volunteerism, and service," the Homemakers said in a written statement.
