Edmonson Voice Welcomes New Family Member Benjamin Beach Peterson was born on Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at 9:49am to Edmonson Voice Staff Reporter/Photographer Moriah Peterson and her husband Jake in Bowling Green. Benjamin weighed 6lbs, 12oz. and he measured 19 inches long.
Moriah will return to her normal duties at the Edmonson Voice following a maternity leave. She, Jake, and Benjamin are all doing well Two Different Businesses, One Main St. Center Location Two local businesses located in the same facility celebrated their ribbon cuttings today in the Main Street Center. Down Home Primitives, a local retail shop, and Mutts-N-Suds, a pet grooming facility, welcomed the public to their event, which was hosted by the Edmonson County Chamber of Commerce. Ken and Mary Puckett, owners of Down Home Primitives, said even though their business had been located in the Main Street Center for a year, the ribbon cutting was a good opportunity to celebrate their growth with a one-year anniversary event. "When we started here a year ago, we only had a handful of Christmas stuff," said Mary. "We didn't feel like it was the right time to have a ribbon cutting. But since we offer much more, we thought we'd celebrate our anniversary with the ribbon cutting and open house." Mrs. Puckett, a native of the Sweeden community, said she loves running a local business. "You couldn't hire us to move out of Edmonson County," she said. The store offers primitives and holiday and farmhouse decor, many items of which are handmade by the Pucketts. They can be contacted at 270-597-8475 or 270-779-4784 or on Facebook. The retail store shares a facility with Mutts-N-Suds Pet Grooming, owned by Priscilla Abrams, which also celebrated the event today.
Mutts-N-Suds offers your pet baths, nail trims, ear cleaning, and blow drying. Abrams said they are a full-service pet grooming facility. "Brownsville really needed this," she said. "No one else really offered this here. We used to operate through mobile grooming but we wanted to set up something here. We wanted to be community-involved and finally, here we are." They're open Monday - Friday 8am to 4pm and can be reached at 270-597-1119 or on their Facebook page. Chamber Director Rhonda Clemmons said it's always good for the chamber to welcome new businesses. "Most people think of only one business when there's a ribbon cutting, but here we had the unique opportunity to celebrate two businesses at once," she said. "We're happy to welcome both Down Home Primitives and Mutts-N-Suds to the chamber, and we wish them much success in Brownsville." The parking lot was full at the new location of Jacob's Home Furnishings Friday evening, November 2nd, for the Chamber of Commerce ribbon cutting ceremony. Members of the community came out to support the Jacob's family during the ceremony and to celebrate the upcoming grand opening of the new storefront. "We just want to thank the community for letting us expand, we have had support from the community since the very beginning," said owner Jeff Jacob. "We have such loyal customers and I'd say about 90% of the people that walk through our doors are sent to us by one of our customers. I hope our expansion inspires other business owners and locals to invest in our community and county." The grand opening of the new location is Saturday November 3rd and there will be free hamburgers and hot dogs for lunch. Customers can also stop in for a chance to win a new living room suite until closing at 5pm. "We are so thrilled to have an Edmonson County business flourish into a bigger storefront," said Chamber Director Rhonda Clemmons. "Jacob's Home Furnishings is certainly an asset to the community and allows everyone to shop right here at home." |
