The Kayak/Canoe Challenge at the first-ever Big Brownsville Bash was held on the Green River on Saturday, June 4, 2022 and sponsored by Alford's Pharmacy. The event was one of many at the Bash, organized and hosted by the Edmonson County Chamber of Commerce. Six different participants hit the water at Houchin Ferry at the starting line and finished up at the Brownsville boat ramp near the Brownsville bridge. Winners in the 12 foot and over kayak division were: 1st place - Junior Duvall 2nd place - Rowdy Farinelli 3rd place - Joy N Derek Curtis Winners in the under 12 foot division were: 1st - William Corhett 2nd - Renee Errett Winners in the business division were: 1st place - Kayaks & More, LLC - paddled by Rowdy Farinelli 2nd place - Green River Canoeing - paddled by Joy N Derek Curtis Chamber President Darren Doyle said there were several that deserved credit for the success of the event. "We'd like to thank Alford's Pharmacy for their corporate sponsorship and helping make this event possible," he said. "Without them, there would not have been a Brownsville Bash. We'd also like to thank Tony and Kim Polson at Kayaks and More for their help, along with Joel Davis of Green River Canoeing, the Edmonson County Rescue Squad for their help with water safety, and of course, all the participants that took part in our challenge."
