FFA Looks to Benefit Youth Service Center With Callie Whobrey Ashley Memorial Tailgate Event9/14/2026 Edmonson Voice Report:
The Edmonson County FFA is set to host a benefit tailgate in honor of the late Mrs. Callie Whobrey Ashley, former Edmonson County Board of Education Finance Officer. Callie was a huge proponent of Edmonson County School’s Youth Service Center (YSC). The event will raise money for the YSC with the FFA setting an ambitious goal of raising at least $5,000 for the program. The YSC plays an important role in helping Edmonson County students succeed by addressing student well-being and financial barriers for poverty-level students and families. The center provides assistance such as school supplies, clothing, food programs, weekend backpack food and summer food support. It also helps coordinate community programs, including the Affordable Christmas Program, and assists students as they transition through school and prepare for graduation and life after high school. To make the tailgate a success, Edmonson County FFA is currently seeking cash donations and silent auction items. The chapter hopes to collect numerous cash donations before the event to help cover food, supplies, and other expenses associated with the fundraiser. Silent auction donations are especially important because they will help the FFA create a successful event while allowing more of the money raised at the tailgate to go directly toward supporting the Youth Service Center. Community businesses, organizations, and other community members are encouraged to consider donating an item, gift basket, service, or other contribution for the silent auction. Every donation can help FFA get closer to their $5,000 goal and help provide resources to Edmonson County students who need them. The tailgate event will take place before the final home football game of the season, giving the event an authentic Friday-night tailgate atmosphere. Local businesses and student entrepreneurs are also invited to set up booths at no cost, providing an opportunity to showcase their businesses while supporting the ECHS FFA’s benefit for the Youth Service Center. Meal plates can be available for purchase. If you or someone you know has questions or would like to donate, please reach out to ECHS FFA President Peytin Manor at [email protected] or 931-219-7816.
