The National Park Service has developed three preliminary concepts for public review and comment. The preliminary concepts can be viewed at: http://parkplanning.nps.gov/houchinferry. This link will become active on June 20th. Comments can be submitted electronically through the website from June 20 through July 20, 2018. It nees to be opened back up where people can cross the river, coming and going to brownsville,as ive mentioned time and time again our elected officals should demand this, settling for nothing less, but we see NO ONE STANDING THE TEST!

Please make the road and old ferry crossing horse accessible. It would be great to have a park there so horse people could enjoy the river also.

Important to remember that ferry service stopped long before the removal of Dam 6. Ferry service was stopped back in 2013 as part of budgetary management --- Dam 6 failed in late 2016 and was removed in April 2017. Apparently only 30 or so cars used that ferry each day, and it does seem fiscally irresponsible to continue operating an expensive ferry (or build an even more expensive bridge) when there are so few cars that were going across the river at that spot. As far as historical significance and people being able to experience a ferry operation, just go up to Green River Ferry! It's used by a lot of cars and no doubt it will be in operation for many years to come.
