Santa's Helping Hands Celebrates Biggest Charity Golf Scramble To Date

The annual Santa's Helping Hands Charity Golf Tournament was held on Saturday, August 29th at Shady Hollow Golf Club in Cub Run. According to SHH co-founder Mark Wardlow, the event was the biggest so far for the Edmonson County charity.

"This was by far the biggest SHH golf tournament to date with 36 teams, over 100 hole sponsors, and closest to pin awards on every hole," Wardlow said. "This year's tournament was won by the team made up of Ben Grey, Daniel Caudill, Hunter Buttram, and Ethan Hinson with a score of -20.

​​The Edmonson Voice Mega Prize Hole on number 18 was won by Charlie Turner who put his tee shot within two feet of the cup. Prizes for the hole were estimated around $1000.

"Dad’s BBQ" and "Mark’s Hot Dogs" were in high demand Saturday as over 200 golfers were served with both.

"All of us at Santa's Helping Hands would like to extend a huge thank you to Shady Hollow Golf Course, all the golfers, hole sponsors, and volunteers," said Wardlow. "As with all our events, we couldn't do this without the support of our community. We love returning this generosity back to our Edmonson County families with the assistance we provide to our own that need it most. Once again, we are humbled by the outpouring of support."
