 Violet Cannon, age 97, of Wingfield, departed this life on Wednesday, January 27, 2016 in Bowling Green. The Edmonson County native was born on August 6, 1918 to the late Rev. Elza Elmore and Mona Brooks Elmore and was married to the late Robert S. Cannon, Sr.
She cared for her family as a homemaker, and was also a member of Wingfield United Baptist Church. She leaves to honor her memory-- three sons, Wilmer Sherrill Cannon, Sr. (Lavern) of Chalybeate; Bobby Cannon (Faye) and Glen Cannon (Betty) all of Wingfield; one daughter Judy Hawks (H.G.) of Wingfield; nine grandchildren and several great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Lanada Cannon and a grandson, Chris Cannon. Internment will be in Wingfield Church Cemetery. She was married to Mark Russell of Bowling Green, KY, who also survives.
She worked at the TSC warehouse and was a member of Cave Mill Missionary Baptist Church. Besides her mother and husband, she is survived by her daughter, Rachel King of Park City, KY; stepfather, David Woolums of West Point, KY; stepdaughter, Breanna Russell of Glasgow, KY; two brothers, Steven Hester of Elizabethtown, KY and David Woolums, Jr. (Karen) of West Point, KY and one sister, Rhonda Simpson (David) of Lebanon Junction, KY. He was born on April 22, 1947 in Clarkson, KY to the late Callie and Sudie Mae (Boone) Jones and was married to Diane Woosley Jones, who survives.
He graduated from Clarkson High School, Class of 1966. He was inducted into the Army soon after, and served our country for two years-- one of which was in Vietnam. He worked for Leitchfield Transfer as a truck driver for over 25 years. In his spare time, Larry enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening. He was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle and friend and will be greatly missed. Besides his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Christi Jones Yoakem; son-in-law, Jason Yoakem all of Big Reedy, KY; sister, Sue Wilkerson (Thomas) of Louisville, KY; brother, Buck Jones (Frances) of Big Clifty, KY; several nieces, nephews, aunts, and cousins; his best friend “Buddy”, and many friends. Mayhugh, 81 of Smiths Grove, Ky. formerly of Morgantown Ky., passed away Friday January 22, 2016 at the Hospice of Southern Ky. Hospice House in Bowling Green, Ky.
Herman was born on Sunday February 18, 1934 in Butler County Kentucky to the late Friday and Florence Porter Mayhugh. He was a member of Union Missionary Baptist Church, A United States Navy Veteran and a retired Diesel Mechanic. He also loved spending time with his family and friends. Other than his parents he is preceded in death by one daughter Jennifer Jo Mayhugh and six sisters Jewel McCoy, Ovie Mayhugh, Nada Proctor, Eva Mae Askew, Freda Paschal and Leatrice Givens. Herman D. Mayhugh is survived by his loving wife of 58 years Louise Cardwell Mayhugh of Smiths Grove, Ky.; one daughter, Lecia Priddy and husband Dennis of Smiths Grove, Ky.; one son Joey Mayhugh and wife Allison of Fulshear Texas; one granddaughter Rachel Priddy and fiancé Arthur of Smiths Grove, Ky.; two grandsons Joseph Priddy and wife Jessica of Smiths Grove, Ky. and Stuart Mayhugh of Fulshear, Texas; one sister Loyce McCoy and husband Desper of Evansville, Indiana; one brother Charles Mayhugh wife Edith of Morgantown, Ky. and several nieces and nephews. Lora Priddy Sanders, age 46, of Chalybeate, departed this life on Monday, January 18, 2016 at The Medical Center in Bowling Green, KY. The Edmonson County native was born on September 15, 1969 to the late Darrell Priddy and Evon Pierce Priddy, who survives. She was married to her best friend, Chris Sanders, who also survives.
Lora, known as “Gracie” to those that loved her most, worked as a supervisor at The Medical Center Sleep Center, and was a faithful member of Chalybeate United Baptist Church. Besides her husband and mother, she is survived by three daughters, Kelsey Sanders, Paige Sanders and Alex Whitfill; one son, Cameron Whitfill; one sister, Jenny Turley (Donnie) and one brother, Paul Blanton — all of Chalybeate. Wayne was a retired instructor for Bowling Green Vocational School, a Korean Conflict, Navy veteran. Hazel Darlene Crump, age 71 of Rocky Hill, KY, passed away on January 7, 2016 at her residence. The Lancaster, Ohio native was born on August 14, 1944 to her late biological parents Paul Harmon and Martha Martin Harmon and was raised by the late Aubrey and Maxine Houchins. She was married to Robert Leon Crump, Sr. of Rocky Hill who survives.
She was a loving wife, mom, granny, and sister, and was of the General Baptist faith. Besides her husband she leaves to cherish her memory one son, Robert L. Crump, Jr. (Tammy) of Smiths Grove; two daughters, Carolyn Yvette Johnson (Gary) Rocky Hill and Marsha Glass of Bardstown; two brothers, Paul H. Donald M. Skaggs, age 91, of Fairborn, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, January 08, 2016 at Kindred Hospital. He was born the son of Noah & Elizabeth (McCrady) Skaggs on August 15, 1924 in Brownsville, Kentucky. He is preceded in death by his parents, sisters Blanche Demunbrun and Lillian Whittle, brothers Stinson, Kenneth, and Warner Skaggs, and a great granddaughter Addison.
Donald is survived by his loving and devoted wife Dorothy Skaggs; two sons Donald (Shirley) Skaggs and Jeffrey Skaggs; grandchildren Donald “Trey” (Joanne) Skaggs, Brian (Lisa) Skaggs, Kellie (Brian) Meeks, and Joshua Skaggs; ten great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Donald served his country proudly with the Army Air Corp. during World War II receiving the Purple Heart. He was retired from Wright Patterson Air Force Base as a senior logistician after 38 years of dedicated service. He was a longtime member and past deacon at Fairborn First Baptist Church. He was also a 32nd degree Mason. Donald was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He will be dearly missed by all who love him. Vicki Kinkade Hammers, 71, of Bowling Green, KY passed away Wednesday, January 6, 2016 in Bowling Green Ky. The Edmonson County, KY native was the daughter of the late Lonnie Kinkade and Elsie Lindsey Kinkade. She was a loving daughter who honored her mother and father and treated them with great respect. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Jerry Kinkade.
Vicki was a graduate of Western Kentucky University where she received her Masters degree and Rank I, and was a member of Kappa Delta Sorority. She was a retired teacher at Simpson County High School, and was a devoted teacher who loved her students, and they loved her in return. She took them to many state competitions. She was a member of Midway Baptist Church, Lindseyville, KY. She was also an avid crossword puzzle worker. Survivors include her husband, Lowell Hammers of Bowling Green, KY; son, John Hammers (Tammy) of Bowling Green, KY; brother, Teddy Kinkade (Carolyn), Lindseyville, KY; grandsons, Jacob Hammers and James Hammers of Bowling Green, KY; nieces, Ashley Griffith and Julie Howard; nephews, Matt Kinkade and Josh Kinkade. Floyd McKinley “Kenny” Blair, 72, of Belton, KY, passed away Wednesday, January 6, 2016, at Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville, KY, after a long and courageous fight with Parkinson’s Disease.
Kenny was a Navy veteran and retired from Ford Motor Company’s Kentucky Truck Plant. He worshipped at East Union Baptist Church in Graham, KY and a member of Swigert Middletown Masonic Lodge #218. He was Preceded in death by his parents, Robert Dempster “Demp” Blair and Victoria Stewart Blair, brothers, Earl, Junior, and William Thomas Blair, and sisters, Anna Ruth Stevens, Flora Comer, and Alta Vincent. The Edmonson County native was an employee of Gravil Funeral Home for 55 years, a custodian for the Brownsville Office of Community Action of Southern Kentucky, a 1950 graduate of Sunfish High School and a member of Asphalt Church of Christ. She was a daughter of the late Clem Raymer and Byrd Dalton Raymer. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Knightie Raymer and Eunell Raymer. The Louisville native was a retired marine diesel engineer. a US Navy veteran of the Vietnam War and a member of the American Mountain Men. He was a son of the late Arvin D. Lynch Jr. and Dona M. Jean Raymer Jackson, 76, of Huff passed away Jan. 1, 2016 at The Medical Center at Bowling Green.
The Edmonson County native was a retired kitchen supervisor at Turner Industries, a business owner/operator and a member of Brownsville Missionary Baptist Church. She was a daughter of the late James Arthur Raymer and Ella Marie Holt Raymer and the wife of the late Billy Jackson. She was preceded in death by a brother, Tommy Raymer. Funeral will be at 1:00 PM Wednesday at Gravil Funeral Home with burial to follow in Cub Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be 3-8 PM Tuesday and after 9 AM Wednesday. Surviving are a son, J. J. Staugaitis of Huff; a sister, Vicki Vincent of Huff; a brother Jim Raymer (Ann) of Jonesboro, GA; and a grandson, Zachary Staugaitis Brett Alexander Robertson, age 17, of Hardyville, KY, passed away Thursday, December 31, 2015 in Munfordville, KY as a result from a car accident. He was a Junior at Hart County High School, employed by Sonic and a member of Rowletts Baptist Church.
He was the son of Brent Robertson and Stacy Hogan Robertson of Hardyville. Besides his parents he is surived by one brother, Blake Robertson, Hardyville, KY; maternal grandparents, Zelda & Gary Carney, Cave City,KY, Jimmy Cole, Wingfield, KY, Casey Hogan, Brownsville, KY; paternal grandparents, Douglas & Sally Robertson, Hardyville, KY; great grandmothers, Rosamond Krahembuhl, Glasgow, KY, Lois Turner, Brownsville, KY; several cousins, including Collin Colabelli; girlfriend, Kristen "Sky" Boggs; several aunts, and uncles. Harvie Henry Stewart, age 71, of Brownsville, KY, passed away Thursday, (December 31, 2015) at his home in Brownsville.
He was born on November 5 1944, in Edmonson Co., KY, the son of the late Wilbur Ray and Ruby White Stewart. He was a construction worker and a mechanic who loved his church, Ford Tractors, playing with his grandchildren and enjoyed playing checkers. He was a member of the Sunny Point Church. He is survived by his wife, Beatrice Kerr Stewart of Brownsville; a son, Tommy Stewart (Evonna) of Leitchfield, KY; a daughter, Sharon Denease Stewart of Leitchfield; four grandchildren, Christopher Stewart, Cassaundra Heaverin, Magan Stewart, and Nickolas Heaverin; five sisters, Betty Jean McKinney of Leitchfield, Evelyn Stewart of Bowling Green, KY, Lynna Lucille Ray of Caneyville, KY, Frances Meredith of Bee Spring KY and Hazel Farris of Brownsville KY, two brothers, Paul and Eddie Stewart both of Leitchfield. Many nieces and nephews also survive. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Melissa Gale Stinson, seven brothers and sisters, Charles Ray, Harold Glenn, Donnie, Albert and Gloria Stewart, Mary Meredith and Noretta Kiper.
