Gelee Jameson, age 97, of Park City, KY, passed away Monday, January 30, 2017 at the Medical Center in Bowling Green, KY. She was born February 12, 1919 in Cumberland County, KY to the late Parker and Inez Cloyd Allen. She was married to the late Marion “Jim” Jameson.

Gelee was a housewife and a seamstress for Mammoth Cave Garment Factory but her main job was being “Ma”. Also, she was a member of Walnut Hill Baptist Church.

She leaves to honor her memory, two daughters, Brenda Higginbotham (Harvey) of Park City, KY and Janice Rich of Bowling Green, KY; one brother, Ralph Allen (Edith) of Indianapolis, IN; five grandchildren, Cheryl Hogan (Jeff), Duane Rich (Julie), Stacy Jones, Alicia Beckham (Scott), Shanda Johnson; fourteen great grandchildren and eight great-great grandchildren.

Interment will be in Walnut Hill Cemetery.

​Edna Elizabeth Madison Jackson, age 100, was born on May 27, 1916 in Brownsville, Kentucky to the late George and Kate Logan Madison and entered into rest on Sunday, January 29, 2017, at Hospice of Southern Ky.

She is survived by two daughters, Marilee Ringley, of Bowling Green, KY and Lynn Skaggs and her husband Wavie, of Chalybeate Springs, Kentucky.

​She also leaves behind sixteen grandchildren, Debbie Doyle (Steve), Steve Alan Skaggs (Jill), Lori Ringley, Eric Skaggs (Susie), Scott Skaggs (Michelle), Kristi Hartnady (Phil), and Melanie Elmore (Shane), Lisa Timm (Jared) their children, Mandy Jackson and her children, and Amy Jarvis (Jim).

She is further survived by twenty-six great-grandchildren: Darren & Debbie Doyle, Shane & Jessica Doyle, Sarah & Jarrid Childress, Elliot & Kelly Skaggs, Dustin and Aubrey Doyle, Daniel and Kori Skaggs, Emily and Dustin Ellis, Tyler Skaggs, Jackson Skaggs, Katie and Cody Tennison, Leah and Justin Lindsey, Nathan and Faith Elmore, Isaac Absher, Zack Hartnady, Caleb Skaggs, and Holden Skaggs; fifteen great-great grandchildren, three nieces, and one nephew.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Charles, Emmitt, and Guy Madison, one sister, Lulu Stice, one son, Jack Jackson, Jr, and one grandson, Peter Jackson.

She was known as “Edna” to some, “Mrs. Jackson,” to others, but to most, she was known as “Tiny” and “Granny.”

She was saved by the grace of God at Fairview United Baptist Church as a young girl in the late 1920’s where she became a member. She later joined Chalybeate United Baptist Church in 1941 where her mother and father were members. She later joined Broadway United Methodist Church in the mid 1950’s with her son, Jackie.

She retired from Kelly Office Systems in 1980, but stayed just as busy for the next three decades working in her yard, her family’s garden, shopping, and spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Interment will be at Kinser Cemetery in Chalybeate Springs, KY. Bro. Steve Doyle will be officiating.

Kimberle “Kim” Woodcock, 40 of Columbia, KY formerly of Sweeden, KY. passed away suddenly Saturday, January 28, 2017 at her home.
 
She was born September 27, 1976 in Bowling Green, KY. She is survived by her parents:  Larry and Teresa Taylor Woodcock of Columbia, KY formerly of Sweeden, KY. 
 
Survived by her wife:    Susie (Willis) Woodcock of Columbia, KY formerly of Leitchfield, KY, Two step children:  Destiny Young and Dalton Mudd both of Leitchfield, KY, One brother:  Allen Wayne Woodcock of Danville, KY, Grandchildren:  Kailey Grace, Bentley and Kolton Young, One niece: Miranda Woodcock and one nephew Nathan Woodcock, Also survived by a host of other family and friends.
 
Kim was a barber at the Town Barber Shop in Columbia, KY for many years.

​William Dale Wells, 64 of Smiths Grove died at his residence on Friday, Jan. 27, 2017.

The Edmonson County native was a son of the late William Payton and Hallie Mae Doyle Wells and is preceded in death by a brother Larry Wells. He was owner of Dale's Upholstery.

His survivors include his wife Joyce Lashley Wells; three sons, Joey Wells (Nita), Chris Wells (Amanda), Anthony Wells (Shellie); nine grandchildren; two great grandchildren; three sisters, Zettie Parker, Brenda Wells, Bonnie Watford (Vic); two brothers, Leroy Doyle ( Melissa), Joe Wells; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service 5 p.m. Sunday at Hardy & Son Funeral Home, Smiths Grove Chapel with cremation to follow the service. Visitation 1-5 p.m.Sunday at the funeral home.

​Glenda Gail Hogan, age 63, of Horse Cave, KY, passed away Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at the Medical Center in Bowling Green, KY. She was born March 22, 1953, in Hart County, KY, to the late Walter and Mable Sanders Glass. She was married to Rev. Dan Hogan who survives.

Glenda was a retired custodian for LeGrande Elementary School and was a member of Nolin United Baptist Church.

Besides her husband, she leaves to honor her memory, one son,  Troy Hogan (Shelly) of Bowling Green, KY; one daughter, Crystal Elmore (Chris) of Munfordville, KY; two granddaughters, Megan Hogan of Bowling Green, KY and Addison Groce of Horse Cave, KY; two brothers, Ronnie Glass (Louise) of Munfordville, KY, Doug Glass (Melissa) of Hiseville, KY; four sisters Juanita Sexton of Munfordville, KY, Shirley Johnson (Harold) of Brownsville, KY, Debbie Poynter (Ricky) of Horse Cave, KY, Judy Hogan of Brownsville, KY and several nieces and nephews. ​Edward Mudd, age  37, of  Louisville, KY, departed this life on Friday, January 20, 2017 in Louisville, KY.  The Edmonson County, KY native was born October 6, 1979, to the late James Edward Mudd and Margaret Dement Mudd, who survives of Wingfield, KY.

Edward was a inventory clerk for Honeywell. He was an Episcopalian and an Army veteran.

Kenneth Vincent, 84 of Oakland died Monday, Jan. 23, 2017 at his residence.

The Warren County native was a son of the late Hubert and Cordia Wilson Vincent and is preceded in death by his son Joey Vincent and a sister Donnie Vincent.  He was a farmer , businessman and a member of Oakland Baptist Church.

His survivors include his wife of 61 years,  Navajo Vincent; two daughters, Teresa Massey (Randy) and Sherry Potts (Brian), five grandchildren, Miranda ELkins (Chad) , Crystal Massey (Ari), Matthew Vincent (Jackie), Jordan Beckmann (Dakota), Makenzie Vincent; seven great grandchildren, Chase Elkins, Nick Elkins, Alex Elkins, Rand Massey, Michael Yankey, Warren Yankey, Addilynn Vincent; two sisters, Doris Gregory (Jerry) and Lois Smith(Ivy); several nieces and nephews and his dog Max.

The Edmonson County native was a retired administrator of Joywells Retirement Home and a member of Brownsville Missionary Baptist Church. She was the daughter of the late Luther J. Wells and Lena Stephens Wells and the wife of the late Maurice Parsley, the late Don Sharer and the late Murel Daniel. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Scott Parsley.
 
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Tuesday at Gravil Funeral Home with burial to follow in Brownsville Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-9 PM Monday and after 9:00 AM Tuesday.

She was a homemaker, and a member of Our Lady of the Caves Catholic Church.

She leaves to honor her memory, one son, J.T. The Edmonson County native was a retired oven operator for Reynolds Metals, and an army veteran of the Korean War. He was a son of the late Jack Lindsey and Annie Luttrell Lindsey and the husband of the late Aleta Higgs Lindsey.

She was a caretaker, a member of VFW Post 1298 and was of the Baptist Faith.

He was a son of the late Henry Thomas Simpson and Elora Mae Nash Simpson. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Ervin Simpson and Harold Simpson; and a sister, Irene Shields.

Larry was a construction worker.

The Warren County native was a daughter of the late Woodrow and Elnora Compton Watt and is preceded in death by a brother, Gerald Watt. She was a credit clerk for Air Gas and a member of Shadyland Church of Christ. 

Her survivors include three sisters, Betty Burnett, Stella Clemmons (Ernest), Judy Watt; a sister-in-law, Janet Watt; one aunt, Barbara Miller; one uncle, Barcus "John" Watt, several nieces, nephews and numerous cousins.

Edmon Tomes, 95, of Brownsville, KY, departed this life on January 5, 2017 in Bowling Green, KY. The Butler County native was born on December 24, 1921, to the late Frank and Una Tomes. He was married to his devoted wife of almost seventy years, Vera Davis Tomes, who preceded him in death.

Edmon was a carpenter, of the Baptist faith and was a member of the Washington Meredith Masonic Lodge #355 F&AM.

He leaves to honor his memory, two sons, Frank Tomes (Alvetta) of Brownsville, KY, Arlon Tomes (Teri) of Lindale, TX; two daughters, Renetta Key Wilson (Marvin) of Celina, TX and Marcia Luckabaugh Davis (Roger) of Bowling Green, KY; eleven grandchildren, Todd Key (Barbara), Doug Tomes (Pam), Keith Tomes (Christy), Marty Wilson, Gina Wilson, Brad Key (Crystal), Kimi Johns (Steve), Sherri Forester (Paul), Lisa Hunt (Paul), Jake Tomes (Tara), Brett Luckabaugh (Devan) and several great and great-great grandchildren. John C. “Pop” Lindsey, 82, passed away Tuesday January 3, 2017 surrounded by family at Audubon Hospital. He was  born July 9, 1934 in Brownsville, Ky. He was the son of Wille "Bill" Lindsey and Clarise Dismon Lindsey.

He retired from Phillip Morris , where he worked for 37 years . John will be remembered for his helping hand and generous heart. He enjoyed sharing breakfast with friends and checking on his family.

He is preceded in death by his brothers Leroy and Earl Lindsey and sister Mabel Vincent.

He is survived by his loving wife Martha Bea Lindsey, his children Kathy Carden (Terry), John Lindsey (Tammy) brother Carl Lindsey (Elsie). Grandchildren Jonathan,  Monica (James) and Jon Andrew (Kira). Great-grandchildren Eve, Jon Luke, Colton, Chiara and unborn Phoebe.

His funeral service will be 11 am Saturday at Owen Funeral Home 5317 Dixie Hwy, with burial at Louisville Memorial Gardens West. Visitation will be 3pm to 8pm on Friday.

Bobbi Atwell, 83

​Bobbi Atwell, age 83 of Cave City, KY, passed away peacefully Monday, January 2, 2017 at her home in Cave City, KY, with her children by her side.  The Mammoth Cave native was born September 7, 1933 to the late Jesse Conard Cooper and Cynthia Vance Johnson Cooper. She was married 62 years to the late Ozni “Ozzie” Atwell.

A homemaker and a member of Cave City Baptist Church, Bobbi graduated from Caverna High School in 1951, and from there she furthered her education in business at Bowling Green Business University in 1955. She then went on to complete the American Hotel Association Hotel Supervisory Development Course in 1959, and was manager of Food Services at Lake Crescent Lodge in Olympic National Park in Washington State.

Bobbi served in several different roles in her community and church. She was president of Cave City Younger Woman’s Club for two years; Girl Scout Leader for four years, as well as District Chairman for two years; Sunday School Leader and Superintendent of the Intermediate Sunday School class at Cave City Baptist Church, as well as a member and soloist of the church choir, a member of the community choir, and a leader of the Young Women’s Auxiliary of the Church.   She was the first president of Caverna Elementary PTA.  In 1969, she was chosen Cave City Business and Professional Women’s Club Woman of the Year.  Then in 1976, she was the first woman to be elected to serve on Caverna School Board, where she served for 8 years, and was also the first women to serve as Chairman of the Board.  Bobbi was chosen by the Cave City Chamber of Commerce as Citizen of the Year in 1983.  In 1984, she was commissioned as a Kentucky Colonel. She served on the Glasgow WKU Advisory Council in 1985. Bobbi was also very instrumental in re-establishing the library in Cave City, volunteering many hours of service. She hosted in her home countless social events for her church, community, family and friends. Bobbi truly loved her community and was an inspiration to those around her.

She leaves to honor her memory, one son,  Jonathan Lee Atwell (Tina) of Glasgow, KY; one daughter, Cynthia Lisa Burton of Grand Marais, MN; four grandchildren, Cynthia Rae Burton, Jeanette Suzanne Burton, Bailey Martina Atwell, Michael Atwell Burton; and one brother Phillip Cooper of Louisville, KY. She was also preceded in death by four brothers, Oryce Cooper, Royce Cooper, Merrell Cooper and Ermine Cooper and one sister, Zell Hunt.

Interment will be in Cave City Cemetery.

​Laverne Garner, age 75, of Park City, KY, departed this life on Monday, January 2, 2017 in Horse Cave, KY.  The Bowling Green, KY, native was born on October 10, 1941 to the late Guy Wilson and Edith Houchins Wilson. She was married to the late Michael Garner. 

Laverne was a certified nursing assistant and was a member of Pine Grove United Baptist Church. 
​
She is survived by three sons, Kirby Harper (Shari) of Park City, KY, Robbie Harper (Lenora) of Plano, KY, Tim Harper (Janet) of Chalybeate, KY; five grandchildren, Jodie Willenbecher, Todd Harper, Brittany Harper (Mike), Cody Harper, Dillon Harper; four great grandchildren, Cole Willenbecher, Cade Willenbecher, Kirbie Bonnema, Chase Bonnema; and two sisters Lois Houchin of Shepherdsville, KY, and Barbara Holder Pine Grove, KY. 

Interment will be in Pine Grove Church Cemetery.

Rosalie Creech Floyd, 92

Rosalie Creech Floyd, 92 of Oakland died Sunday, January 1, 2017 at Greenview Regional Hospital.

The Pine Mountain, KY native was a daughter of the late Henry and Deliah Blanton Creech and wife of the late Marion Thomas Floyd.  She is also preceded in death by her son, Andy Floyd; a granddaughter, Sara Lee Sutherland, a great grandson, Thomas Young and son-in-law, James Wilson.  Rosalie was a Home Economics teacher at North Warren and Warren Central.  She attended Shadyland Church of Christ and a member of the Retired Teachers Association.

Her survivors include three daughters, Ellen Sutherland (Robert), Glenna Wilson, Donna Carrier (Darel); seven grandchildren, Joan Sutherland Atkins (Brian), Kevin Floyd (Gail), Jamie Young, Mollie Mellencamp (Nathen), Richard Wilson (Joanna), Jonathan Carrier (Leigh Anne), Joshua Carrier (Brittany); eight great grandchildren, Asher and Isaac Atkins, Deborah Young, Matthew Mellencamp, Clayton and Dylan Floyd, Eli and Isaiah Carrier; one sister, Angela Morgan and many many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Hardy & Son Funeral Home, Bowling Green Chapel with burial at Smiths Grove Cemetery.  Visitation Friday 3-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

​Franklin Woodcock, 83, of Sweeden, KY, passed away on January 1, 2017 at his residence in Sweeden, KY.  The Edmonson County native was born on May 22, 1933, to the late Noah Woodcock and Millie Vincent Woodcock. He was married to the late Faye Richards Woodcock.

Franklin was a retired assembly line worker for General Electric and carpenter. He was a member of Brownsville C.B. Club with the handle “Lobo” and also a member of South General Baptist Church and attended Fairview United Baptist Church.

He leaves to honor his memory, three daughters, Regina Fridy (Pete) of Chalybeate, KY, Kimberlee Gipson (Steve) of Chalybeate, KY, Tonya Compton (Steven) of MT. Washington, KY; nine grandchildren Cristy Darding (Eric), Shannon Lowe (Travis), Haley Garmon (Jeremy), Zachary Compton, Nicholas Compton, Johnathan Compton, Garrett Compton, Evan Compton, Caleb Compton, Brandy Griffith (Bill), Roy Thomas Fridy (Cristina); thirteen great grandchildren; one brother, Jasper Woodcock of Sunfish, KY; and one special nephew, Larry Woodcock (Janette). He was also preceded in death by one brother and one sister.

Interment will be in Fairview Church cemetery.
