She is further survived by twenty-six great-grandchildren: Darren & Debbie Doyle, Shane & Jessica Doyle, Sarah & Jarrid Childress, Elliot & Kelly Skaggs, Dustin and Aubrey Doyle, Daniel and Kori Skaggs, Emily and Dustin Ellis, Tyler Skaggs, Jackson Skaggs, Katie and Cody Tennison, Leah and Justin Lindsey, Nathan and Faith Elmore, Isaac Absher, Zack Hartnady, Caleb Skaggs, and Holden Skaggs; fifteen great-great grandchildren, three nieces, and one nephew. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Charles, Emmitt, and Guy Madison, one sister, Lulu Stice, one son, Jack Jackson, Jr, and one grandson, Peter Jackson. She was known as “Edna” to some, “Mrs. Jackson,” to others, but to most, she was known as “Tiny” and “Granny.” She was saved by the grace of God at Fairview United Baptist Church as a young girl in the late 1920’s where she became a member. She later joined Chalybeate United Baptist Church in 1941 where her mother and father were members. She later joined Broadway United Methodist Church in the mid 1950’s with her son, Jackie. She retired from Kelly Office Systems in 1980, but stayed just as busy for the next three decades working in her yard, her family’s garden, shopping, and spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Bobbi Atwell, age 83 of Cave City, KY, passed away peacefully Monday, January 2, 2017 at her home in Cave City, KY, with her children by her side. The Mammoth Cave native was born September 7, 1933 to the late Jesse Conard Cooper and Cynthia Vance Johnson Cooper. She was married 62 years to the late Ozni “Ozzie” Atwell.
A homemaker and a member of Cave City Baptist Church, Bobbi graduated from Caverna High School in 1951, and from there she furthered her education in business at Bowling Green Business University in 1955. She then went on to complete the American Hotel Association Hotel Supervisory Development Course in 1959, and was manager of Food Services at Lake Crescent Lodge in Olympic National Park in Washington State. Bobbi served in several different roles in her community and church. She was president of Cave City Younger Woman’s Club for two years; Girl Scout Leader for four years, as well as District Chairman for two years; Sunday School Leader and Superintendent of the Intermediate Sunday School class at Cave City Baptist Church, as well as a member and soloist of the church choir, a member of the community choir, and a leader of the Young Women’s Auxiliary of the Church. She was the first president of Caverna Elementary PTA. In 1969, she was chosen Cave City Business and Professional Women’s Club Woman of the Year. Then in 1976, she was the first woman to be elected to serve on Caverna School Board, where she served for 8 years, and was also the first women to serve as Chairman of the Board. Bobbi was chosen by the Cave City Chamber of Commerce as Citizen of the Year in 1983. In 1984, she was commissioned as a Kentucky Colonel. She served on the Glasgow WKU Advisory Council in 1985. Bobbi was also very instrumental in re-establishing the library in Cave City, volunteering many hours of service. She hosted in her home countless social events for her church, community, family and friends. Bobbi truly loved her community and was an inspiration to those around her. The Bowling Green, KY, native was born on October 10, 1941 to the late Guy Wilson and Edith Houchins Wilson. She was married to the late Michael Garner. Laverne was a certified nursing assistant and was a member of Pine Grove United Baptist Church. The Pine Mountain, KY native was a daughter of the late Henry and Deliah Blanton Creech and wife of the late Marion Thomas Floyd. She is also preceded in death by her son, Andy Floyd; a granddaughter, Sara Lee Sutherland, a great grandson, Thomas Young and son-in-law, James Wilson. Rosalie was a Home Economics teacher at North Warren and Warren Central. She attended Shadyland Church of Christ and a member of the Retired Teachers Association. Her survivors include three daughters, Ellen Sutherland (Robert), Glenna Wilson, Donna Carrier (Darel); seven grandchildren, Joan Sutherland Atkins (Brian), Kevin Floyd (Gail), Jamie Young, Mollie Mellencamp (Nathen), Richard Wilson (Joanna), Jonathan Carrier (Leigh Anne), Joshua Carrier (Brittany); eight great grandchildren, Asher and Isaac Atkins, Deborah Young, Matthew Mellencamp, Clayton and Dylan Floyd, Eli and Isaiah Carrier; one sister, Angela Morgan and many many nieces and nephews. A celebration of life will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Hardy & Son Funeral Home, Bowling Green Chapel with burial at Smiths Grove Cemetery. Visitation Friday 3-8 p.m. at the funeral home. The Edmonson County native was born on May 22, 1933, to the late Noah Woodcock and Millie Vincent Woodcock. He was married to the late Faye Richards Woodcock. Franklin was a retired assembly line worker for General Electric and carpenter. He was a member of Brownsville C.B. Club with the handle “Lobo” and also a member of South General Baptist Church and attended Fairview United Baptist Church.
