Nevada Herbert Vincent, age 80, of Big Clifty, KY departed this life on Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at his residence. The Edmonson County native was born on February 16, 1937 to the late Willie Jefferson and Sylva White Vincent. He was married to Janice Logsdon Vincent, who preceded him in death.
Nevada retired as a press operator from Englehard Chemical, and was a member of Vincent Church. He leaves to honor his memory, two daughters, Lynn Mourgos and Michelle R. He retired as a truck driver, and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a crane operator, played music with several different bands, was a member of Local 181 IUOE and a member of Bee Spring Missionary Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by a son, Scottie Lee Hayes; and a brother, Charles Terry Hayes. The Grayson County native was the daughter of the late Edgar and Sylvia Clark Cripps. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by two brothers, John Bernard (Jay), Harold Cripps and several aunts and uncles. Mrs. Harp was a graduate of St. Paul High School in Big Clifty. She was a member of Bee Springs Missionary Baptist church where she attended until she was to sick. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and being outside, where she enjoyed gardening, flowers and watching birds. While she held a few jobs outside the home, her greatest joy was being a stay at home mom. The Edmonson County native was born on June 23, 1957 to the late Leroy and Evelyn “Peggy” Cole. He shared his life with best friend and wife, Mary Alice Cole, who survives. Joe worked previously as a receiving clerk for Country Oven Bakery. He later worked for Edmonson County Schools as an instructional assistant. He mentored to many children, and was lovingly known as “Big Dog”. He was saved as a child, and became a member of Cedar Springs United Baptist Church. Joe was a family man and truly enjoyed being a husband, father, papaw, brother, uncle, cousin and friend to many people. He was an avid Wildcat fan and loved cheering for both the Edmonson County Wildcats and the Kentucky Wildcats. Besides his wife, he leaves to honor his memory— one son, Scott Cole of Brownsville; two brothers, Gary Cole (Paulette) of Cedar Springs and Jimmy Cole (Corentha) of Chalybeate; five grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and friends.
