After a brief illness with cancer, David Dennison departed this life on Thursday, February 26, 2015.  The Jefferson County native was 70-years-old and the son of the late James Harlin Dennison and Marion Heyser Gunter.

David moved to Barren County as a child and was saved in July of 1958 at Basil’s Chapel United Baptist Church.  He later moved his membership to Beaver Dam United Baptist Church. He was married to Janet Slaughter Dennison and together they owned and operated Mammoth Cave Transplants Greenhouses and Nursery.  

David was a true neighbor, friend and active leader in the community.   He had a passion for southern gospel music, enjoyed traveling, golfing and he adored the time spent with his family. David retired from SKF Industries in Glasgow; was a Kentucky Farm Bureau Board Member; past president of the Edmonson County Chamber of Commerce; a Leadership Edmonson County and Leadership Western Kentucky Alumni and a past president of the Edmonson County Agri-Tourism Commission.  

Besides his wife Janet, he leaves to honor his memory— two daughters, Marsha Gentry (Michael) of Cave City, KY and Sherry Maxwell (Eugene) of Lawton, OK; one son, Scott Dossey (Elisabeth) of Knoxville, TN; four grandchildren, Emily Gentry, Andrew Gentry, Peyton Maxwell and Ben Maxwell; four brothers, Don Dennison (Mary) of Louisville, KY, Bob Gunter (Gail) of Louisville, KY; Bill Gunter (Melissa) of Louisville, KY and Mark Gunter (Tina) of Charlotte, NC; two sisters, Betty Gunter and Linda Gunter, both of Louisville, KY; several nieces, nephews and a host of friends.  He was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Napper and his grandparents who raised him, Carlos and Doshia Dennison and Paul and Cora Heyser.

Mary Bewley Bryant, 81 of Bowling Green died Monday, February 23, 2015 at her residence.

The Edmonson County native was a daughter of the late Wilbert and Millie Gibson Bewley and is preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd “L.G.” Bryant and a sister, Mae Doss.  She was retired from Eaton Corporation and a member of Chalybeate Baptist Church. 

Her survivors include her daughter, Kathy Poole (Danny)  her son Lloyd Bryant (Sue); two grandchildren, Matthew Bryant (Melenda) and Mary Beth Houchens (Blake); four great grandchildren, Madelyn Bryant, Nichalus Poole, Dexter Houchens, Mallory Bryant; four brothers, James “Tinker” Bewley, Ossie Bewley, John Bewley, Ralph Bewley; three sisters, Clara Napier, Zula Cowles, Hazel Wilson; several nieces and nephews.

Sharon Kay Sanders Ashley, 62, of Brownsville, KY departed this life on Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at her residence.  The Edmonson County native was born on October 22, 1952 to the late Rex John Sanders, Sr. and the late Teresa Evanell Higdon.  She was married to William Frank Ashley, who survives. 

She was a laborer at Eaton Corporation and a member of Fairview United Baptist Church. 

In addition to her husband, she leaves to honor her memory— two sons, James Trenton Sanders (Jenny Sue) of Bowling Green and Shane Dillon Ashley of Brownsville; one daughter, Jennifer Lynn Rumsey (Gabriel) of Bowling Green; one brother, Rex John Sanders, Jr. of Grayson Springs; one sister, Donna S. Brown (Thomas) of Shelbyville; four granddaughters, Jessica Branstetter,  Zepplin Sims, Robert Hogan, Jr. and Gabrielle Rumsey and one great-granddaughter, Lily Bre Branstetter.  She was preceded in death by one sister, Wanda Faye Sanders.

Louise “Weedy” Decker, 95, of Brownsville, KY, departed this life on Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at Edmonson Health Care in Brownsville. The Owensboro native was born June 7, 1919 to the late  William Roy and  Gertie Mae Johnson White  and was the wife of the late Charlie Decker, Sr.  She was a homemaker and was a member of Pleasant Union United Baptist Church.

Leola Estes Salley, age 81, of Park City, departed this life on Monday, February 23, 2015 at NHC Health Care in Glasgow, KY.  The Cave City, KY native was born on January 20, 1934 to the late Otis and Lorine Denton Estes.

She was the former manager at the Greyhound Bus Station in Cave City and also worked for Houchens in Glasgow.  She was a member of Park City United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her husband of forty-four years, Albert R. Salley of Park City, KY; one son, Wayne Hughes and wife Diane of Corydon, KY; three sisters, Georgia Estes, Jo Ann Howell and husband James, and Betty Williams and husband Minnis of Glasgow, KY; two granddaughters, Melissa Clements and husband Drew of Niagra, KY and Andrea Hughes of Evansville, IN; two great-grandchildren, Grady Clements and Madelyn Clements and several nieces and nephews.

Norma McGrew, 60, of Brownsville passed away at 10:13 PM Feb 19, 2015 at Kindred Hospital in Louisville.
 
     The Bryan, OH native was a homemaker and a member of United Brethren Church. She was the daughter of the late Floyd Thomas Dennison and Roseleen Miles Dennison of West Liberty, OH, who survives. She was preceded in death by a son, Billy McGrew.
 
     Funeral will be at 1:00 PM Tuesday at Red Hill General Baptist Church with burial to take place in McGrew Family Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-9 PM Sunday, 9 AM-9 PM Monday and 9 AM-Noon Tuesday.

     The Jefferson County native was a housewife and a member of Charity Baptist Church. She was the daughter of the late Nora Mae White Gammons and the wife of the late Frank Henneberger.

Johnny Veto Johnson, 47, of Bee Spring, KY, departed this life on February 18, 2015 in Leitchfield, KY. The Jefferson County native was born on October 21, 1967 to the late Jack Faris and Dona L. Garner Vincent. He was a credit manager for Core-Mark, an Army Veteran and a member of Harvest Time Apostolic Church. 

He is survived by two sons, Gage Johnson and Mason Johnson both of Leitchfield; mother, Dona L. Willowdean Smith Childress, 81, of Mammoth Cave, KY,departed this life on Wednesday, February 18, 2015 at her  daughters’ residence. The Edmonson County native was born June 15, 1933 to the late Ernest O. Smith and the late Mary Edna Rich Smith and was the wife of the late Georgie O. Childress. She was a retired teacher for Lincoln and Kyrock Schools and was a member of Green River Eastern Star and Union Light Missionary Baptist Church.

Brenda Dunning, 67, of Chalybeate, KY, departed this life on Sunday, February 15, 2015 in Bowling Green. The Edmonson County native was born June 6, 1947 to the late Ruben Keith and Mary Reeder Keith and was the wife of Paul Dunning.  She was a manager for Edmonson County Head Start, co-owner of Dunning Communications and was a member of New Liberty Methodist Church.  She enjoyed reading, camping, traveling and loving her grandkids.

She is survived by her husband, Paul Dunning of Chalybeate; one son, Kenny Duvall (Kathleen) of Rocky Hill; two daughters, Glenna Duvall (Timmy) of Cedar Springs and Anne Vincent (Timmy) of Segal; her mother, Mary Keith of Cedar Springs; one brother, David Keith of Louisville and eight grandchildren, Cody Vincent, Drew Parson, Katie Duvall, Michael Parson, Mikayla Duvall, Kyle Vincent, Mathew Higgs and Jacob Parson. The Edmonson County native was a retired bookkeeper for Denali Federal Credit Union and a member of Midway United Missionary Baptist Church. She was a daughter of the late Ewing Granville Ashley and Ruth Ellen Lindsey Ashley. She was preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey Allen Vincent; and two brothers, Granville Ashley and David Ashley.

Ava Johnson Gravil, 71 of Bowling Green died Monday, Feb. 9, 2015 at Frazier Rehab in Louisville

The Warren County native was a daughter of the late Ekla and Lana Meadows Johnson and is preceded in death by her husband Terry "Tubby" Gravil, a son, Richard "Ricky" Gravil; two brothers, Ellery Johnson and Bert Johnson and a sister, Lucy Kinser. She was a lead operator for Berry Plastics and was of the Baptist Faith. In 2006 she was a proud recipient of a double lung transplant which she received on their 42nd wedding anniversary.

Her survivors include a daughter, Tammy Alford (Sam); two sons, Terry A. Gravil (Angela) and Jason Gravil (Stacey), four grandchildren, T. J. Gravil (Katie), Richard Gravil, Bryan Gravil, Lana Christine Smotherman; two great grandsons, Charlie and Evan Gravil; a sister, Ludean Duckett; several nieces and nephews.

Rick A. DeVore, 62, Smiths Grove, passed away Saturday, February 7, 2015 in Bowling Green.The Ohio native was born June 18, 1952 to the late Virgil Frank DeVore and the late Pauline Lucille Garner DeVore. He was the husband of Tina Emmitt DeVore, who survives.

He was a truck driver for ECK Miller Trucking and a member of Community Church at Cedar Springs.

Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, Dustin DeVore, Virginia Beach, VA, Dougie DeVore (Clarisa) California; one daughter Tracy Lynn DeVore, Smiths Grove; one step son, Joshua Shane Farmer and one step daughter Kimberly Renee Farmer both of Smiths Grove; three brothers, Frank Jr. DeVore (Joan), Chuck DeVore (Lorrie), Roger DeVore (Sandy) all of Ohio; four sisters Judy Stull (Jack), Joyce Hart (Wayne), Dana Meredith (David) all of Ohio and Kimberly Cline (Don), North Carolina and six grandchildren. Dr. Jackson Wayne Ashley, age 83 of Brownsville, departed this life on Thursday, February 5, 2015. The Edmonson County native was born on October 5, 1931 to the late Lorin D. and Inez Ashley. He was the devoted husband of 61 years to Geneva Lindsey Ashley, who survives.

Wayne is a retired Professor in the Department of Educational Leadership from Western Kentucky University. He was a Korean War Veteran and a faithful member of Pleasant Union United Baptist Church, where he was the Sunday School Superintendent for over 30 years. Wayne was a pillar to his natural and spiritual family and leaves footprints for each to follow.

Jimmy Willis “Big Daddy” Webb, age 72 of Brownsville departed this life on February 3, 2015 in Bowling Green.  The Edmonson County native was born on March 25, 1942 to the late Rev. Gilbert and Virginia Elizabeth Webb.  He was married to Anna Katherine Manco Webb, who survives. 

Big Daddy retired from the U.S. Post Office and was the former owner of Webb- Co, Wildcat Carwash and Lindsey Sanitation.  He was also a member of Pleasant Union United Baptist Church. 

In addition to his wife Anna, he leaves to honor his memory— one daughter, Alecia Webb-Edgington (Ted) of Covington, KY; one granddaughter, Kathryn “Jill”  Edgington of Covington, KY; two brothers, Leonard Webb (Marian) of Crestwood, KY and Johnny Webb (Glenna) of Bowling Green, KY, one sister, Jill Webb Skaggs (Steve) of Brownsville, KY  and a multitude of friends.

Edna Mae Meredith Goff, 91, departed this life on Tuesday, February 3, 2015 in Bowling Green.  She was born December 20, 1923 to the late Roy and Ollie Vincent Meredith and was the wife of the late John H. “Herk” Vincent, Rev. Laymon Meredith and Marshall H. Goff.  She was a bagger for Kane’s Sewing Factory in Leitchfield and a member of Cedar Grove General Baptist Church.

She is survived by four sons, Michael Meredith (Joyce), Timmie Meredith (Donna), Terry Meredith (Alleta) and R.L. Meredith all of Bee Spring, KY; two daughters, Vickie Vincent Marlow of Leitchfield, KY and Yolanda Vincent (James) of Bee Spring, KY; two sisters, Gladys Whalin  of Louisville, KY and Willodean Decker of Bee Spring, KY;  twenty-four grandchildren;  thirty-five great grandchildren; nine great-great grandchildren and three great-great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Ollie Evelyn Hayes.

Burial will be in Brite-Meredith Cemetery with Bro. Randy Meredith officiating.
