Faye Hinson, age 84, of  Mammoth Cave, KY passed away Friday, February 24, 2017 in Bowling Green, KY.  She was born on  June 10, 1932 in  McHenry, KY to the late  Edward Hillard and Mercedes Lewis Hillard and was the wife of  the late Grady Alvin Hinson.

Faye was a homemaker and a member of  the Eastern Star and Cove Hollow United Baptist Church.

She leaves to honor her memory two daughters, Pamela Peterman of Ft. Walton Beach, FL and Jeannie Slaughter (Charlie) of Clarksville, IN; one step son, Grady Byrd (Esther) of Lexington, SC; one sister, Barbara Jaggers (Stoy) of Mammoth Cave, KY; one brother, Edward Jerry Hillard (Brenda) of Bardstown, KY;  six grandchildren, Jon Singleton, Lara Bell, David Danner, Chuck Slaughter, Abby Ogden and Josh Slaughter; four great grandchildren, Chelsea Miller, Savannah Miller, Lily Singleton and Liam Danner; two great-great grandchildren, Cherish Brown and Carina Brown.   She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Patricia Higgs and Sharon Cooper.

Interment will be in Cove Hollow Cemetery.

​Cecile Wilson Minyard, age 77, of New Grove, KY departed this life on Thursday, February 23, 2017 in Brownsville, KY. The Edmonson County native was born November 3, 1939 to the late Leslie James Wilson and Eunice Ruth Lindsey Wells. She was married to her best friend, Nelson Minyard, who survives.

Cecile worked for Brownsville Manufacturing  as a seamstress; was a housekeeper for WKU and was also the former owner and operator of Minyard’s Grocery. She was also a member of New Grove Missionary Baptist Church. 

Besides her husband, she leaves to honor her memory one son, Jeff Minyard (Billie Jo) of New Grove, KY; six grandchildren, Jordan Newton (Sean), Jake Taylor, Weston Hodges, Josh Hodges, Clay Hodges and Gracie Hodges; two great grandchildren, Kenlei Newton and Easton Newton; five brothers, Ervin Wilson (Sam), L.J. Wilson, Eddie Wilson (Kim), Lennie Wilson and Timmy Wilson (Maria); four sisters, Lou Wolfe (Doug), Tresea VanMeter (Hank), Robin Cassady and Julie Decker (Brian) and a step mother, Virginia Wilson. She was also preceded in death by one son, Ricky Minyard, one brother, Larry Wells and one sister, Frances Dewitt.

​Hazel Lindsey Lashley, age 96, of Bowling Green, KY departed this life on Friday, February 17, 2017 at the Medical Center in Bowling Green, KY.  The Edmonson County native was born August 5, 1920 to the late Sammie Lindsey and Lora Lee Potter Lindsey.

She was a retired dietary aid at the Edmonson County Health Care Center, and  a member of Pleasant Union United Baptist Church. 

She leaves to honor her memory— four daughters, Kathlene J. Donahue and her husband Jimmy of Louisville, KY, Norma Jean King and her husband Russ of New Albany, IN, Irene Moore and her husband Paul of Louisville, KY and Sharlene Mitchell Grant and her husband Kenny of Bowling Green, KY; one sister, Nelda Shields of High Spring, FL; one granddaughter, Lisa Sowders of New Albany, IN; one great grandson, Blake Harbert of Wayne, PA and a host of friends and extended family members.

Charles D. Gooding, age 69 of Brownsville, KY passed away Friday, February 17, 2017 in Bowling Green, KY. The Edmonson County native was born May 16, 1947 to the late Clarence P. and Mary Earinstean Vincent Gooding and was the husband of Pat Jaggers Gooding, who survives.

Charles was a maintenance worker for Allied Drum and did dozing work. He was of the Baptist faith.

​Martha Butler Gross, 70, of Cave City passed away at 4:42 PM Feb. 13, 2017 at Commonwealth Regional Specialty Hospital in Bowling Green.
 
The Warren County native was a homemaker. She was a daughter of the late Roy Butler and Edna Forshee Butler and the wife of the late Murray Gross. She was preceded in death by a daughter,

​Eurbana Seabolt Webb, age 73, of Louisville, KY, passed away  Saturday, February 11, 2017 in  Louisville, KY.   She was born  February 11, 1944 in Edmonson County, KY to the late  Dillard and Dempsey Osborne Seabolt and was the wife of Robert Webb for 56 years who survives.

Eurbana was a housewife and a member of Pond Creek Missionary Baptist Church.

Besides her husband , she leaves to honor her memory four brothers, Dallas Seabolt (Jeanette) of Roundhill, Randall Seabolt (Joyce) of Indianapolis, IN, Tommy Seabolt (Barbara) of Brownsville and John Seabolt (Patty) of Flaretty, KY; three sisters, Juanita Minton (Richard) of Chalybeate, Nola Reynolds (David) of Cedar Springs and Emma Miller (Larry) of  Alvaton and several nieces and nephews.  She was also  preceded in death by one brother, Berthel “Buck” Seabolt and two sisters, Ersie Cherry and Versie Parker.

​Joan Napper Summers, 72, of Glasgow passed away at 7:25 PM Feb. 12, 2017 at The Medical Center at Caverna in Horse Cave.
 
The Edmonson County native was a retired food server. She was a daughter of the late Lonnie Napper and Dorothy Mae Brooks Napper.

 Bernard Lee “Bobby” Basham, Jr., age 75, of Chalybeate, KY departed this life on Friday, February 10, 2017 at the Medical Center in Bowling Green, KY. The Kyrock native was born on June 24, 1941 to the late Bernard Lee Basham and Bonnie Kathleen (Bullock) Basham Morrison. He was married to his companion and best friend, Freda Booker Basham, who survives.

“Bobby” retired from the Army Reserves and was an insurance agent for thirty-five years with Commonwealth Insurance and State Farm Insurance. He was also a member of Chalybeate United Baptist Church.

Besides his wife, he leaves to honor his memory two daughters, LeeAnn Elmore (Anthony) of Chalybeate, KY and Sara McCaslin (James) of Bowling Green, KY; two grandchildren, Ben Elmore and Beth Elmore both of Chalybeate, KY, and one brother, Jeff Basham of Florida.

The Mt. Clemens, MI native was born on March 28, 1940 to the late Henry Arnold Eschenburg and Edna Marie Thoel Eschenberg. She was married to the late Robert George Schonschack. 

Gale was the owner and operator of Red Crest Greenhouse.

​Elmer Madison, age 94, of Brownsville, KY, passed away Thursday, February 9, 2017 in Bowling Green, KY. The Edmonson County, KY, native was born September 28, 1922, to the late John Walter Madison and Tandie Tunks Madison. He was married to Ella Mae Cassady Madison, who survives.

Elmer was a retired tool and die maker and farmer, a WWII Army veteran and a member of Beaver Dam United Baptist Church.

Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, Ron Madison (Donna) of Brownsville, KY and Trent Madison (Robynn) of Brownsville, KY; three grandchildren, Dana Burnam (Ryan) of Bowling Green, KY, Travis Madison (Jessica) of Brownsville, KY and Katie Mae Madison of Bowling Green, KY; four great grandchildren, Ali Burnam, Ella Madison, Emory Madison and Brinlee Burnam and several nieces and nephews.

The Berkeley, CA native was retired hairdresser. She was the daughter of the late Felix R. Flores and Bernice Moss Flores.

​Sibert Wayne Jaggers, 71, of Brownsville passed away at 3:41 PM Feb. 7, 2017 at The Medical Center at Bowling Green.
 
The Edmonson County native was a carpenter, a drywaller, an army veteran of the Vietnam War and a member of Washington Meredith Lodge #355 F&AM. He was a son of the late George Washington Jaggers and Odie Mae Hayes Jaggers. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Elmer Jaggers and Ed Jaggers; and four sisters, Pauline Vincent, Romie Vincent, Mildred Gipson and Beulah VanMeter.
 
Funeral will be at 11:00 AM Saturday at Cove Hollow United Baptist Church, where he was a member, with burial to follow in the church cemetery with military honors. Visitation will begin at 7:00 PM Thursday.

​Shelby Jean Taylor, 79, of Bowling Green passed away at 8:06 PM Feb. 7, 2017 at Genesis Health Care in Woodburn.
 
The Edmonson County native was a food server at many restaurants. She was a daughter of the late Dewey H. "Pedad" Kinser and Calverna Minton Kinser and the wife of the late Kenny Hall and the late Robert Taylor. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Deborah Hall; a son, Anthony Hall; and two brothers, Kenneth Kinser (Joyce) and Darrell Kinser (Carolyn).
 
Funeral will be at 2:00 PM Saturday at Red Hill General Baptist Church with burial to follow in Holly Springs Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 5:00 PM Thursday.

​Lance Heiss, 57, of Bee Spring passed away Feb. 5, 2017 at The Medical Center at Bowling Green.
 
The Ann Arbor, MI native was a maintenance supervisor at Nolin Lake State Park and a US Army veteran. He was a son of the late Keith W. Heiss and Barbara Grace Videon Heiss of Bremen, Maine, who survives.

The Breckinridge Co. native was a seamstress for Kellwood and Brownsville Mfg. Co. She was a daughter of the late Raymond Allen and Eva Virginia Smith Allen Hoskinson. She was preceded in death by a son, Ross Lane Sanders; two sisters, Roxie Brooks and Lorene Jaggers; and a brother, William Sexton.

​Carrie Doughty Slaughter, 71 of Brownsville, KY, died Friday, February 3, 2017 at her residence. The Warren County native was a retired teacher for the Warren County School System and held a Master’s degree from Western Kentucky University. She was a member of Friendship Baptist Church.

She was the daughter of the late William Ruble and Ella B. Doughty and was preceded in death by her husband, Roma Slaughter and a brother, Edward Ruble Doughty (Janet).

Survivors include two nephews, Aarron Doughty (Brenda) of Bowling Green and Jason Doughty of Bowling Green; one great niece, Karlie Posey; special friends, Ricky and Janis Simon, Jonathon Simon (Jerika), Eddie Simon (Emily), Anthony Simon (Bridget) and seven special “Grandchildren”.

Funeral Service is scheduled for 11:00 am Monday at Johnson-Vaughn-Phelps Funeral Home with burial in the Belle Key Cemetery in Edmonson County, KY. Visitation will be from 1:00 pm – 6:00 pm Sunday at Johnson-Vaughn-Phelps Funeral Home and again from 9:00 am – 11:00 am Monday at the funeral home.

​Rumbsey T. “Grumpy” Cook, age 91, of Pig, KY, passed away Friday, February 3, 2017 at the Medical Center in Bowling Green, KY. The Edmonson County, KY, native was born September 21, 1925, to the late Coleman and Nellie Bird Cook. He was married to Lizzie Bell Dossey Cook who survives.

Rumbsey was an inspector for the Naval Ordinance Plant in Louisville, KY, a WWII Navy veteran and a member of Cedar Springs United Baptist Church.

Besides his wife he is survived by one son, Allen Cook (Jean) of Gilbert, SC; one daughter, Teresa Sneary (Mike) of Three Rivers, MI; one brother, Leo Cook (Bonnie) of Cedar Springs, KY; three grandchildren, three great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by one sister, Dorothy Cooper and two brothers, Alvin Cook and Marvin “Sock” Cook.
