Georgia Viola Embry Wilson, age 84, formerly of Watershed Road in Caneyville, passed away Wednesday, February 20, 2019 at the Edmonson Nursing and Rehab Center in Brownsville.
She was born on May 22, 1934 in Grayson County, to Elva and Elma Bozarth Embry. She attended school in Caneyville and graduated from Caneyville High School in 1951. In 1954, she married the love of her life Floyd David Wilson, who preceded her in death after they had been married for 59 years. She was an employee of South Central Bell Telephone Company in Louisville, Kentucky for 17 years. Many friends and family knew her as Granny or Georgie. When she was able, she enjoyed going to church, attending singings, and traveling. At a young age, she was saved in the old Walnut Grove School house and later became a member of Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church. Georgia Embry Wilson is survived by one son, David Thomas Wilson (Sandy) of Sweeden; three grandchildren, Aaron Wilson (Merrialyce) of Clarkson, DeAnna Butler (Andy) of Caneyville, Faith Elmore (Nathan) of Chalybeate; three great-grandchildren, Isaac, Ethan, and Sophie Butler; three sisters-in-law, Mary T. Embry, Helen Wilson, Barbara Darst (Jimmy), and several nieces and nephews. He retired from Bowling Green Municipal Utilities where he was a water treatment operator and was currently employed at St. Joseph School where he cherished his boss and co-workers. Buddy loved his children, grandchildren, playing games and watching Family Feud with family and friends, hanging with loved ones while camping, listening to music, reading the Bible, walking, playing with his grand-dog Bella, and visiting with friends at the 13th Street Club House. His survivors include his children, Janel Leonard Doyle (Kendall) of Bowling Green and Brandon Leonard (Sandi) of Hawaii. Funeral services for Dorothy Faye Jaggers will be 2pm Monday, Feb. 4 at the Cove Hollow United Baptist Church with burial in the Cove Hollow Cemetery. Visitation will be after 6pm Sunday at the Cove Hollow United Baptist Church. Sego Funeral Home is in charge of the funeral services. David G. Taylor, 85 of Cub Run, passed away Thursday morning at the Medical Center of Bowling Green.
He was born in Cub Run on January 5, 1934 to the late Thomas & Joann Puckett Taylor. David was a life-long farmer, a U.S. Army veteran and a member of the Union Light Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by a grandson Mark David Baker, four brothers Howard, Edwin, Homer & Victor Taylor and by three sisters Evelyn Gibbons, Millie Huff & Doris Taylor He is survived by his loving wife – Josie Sanders Taylor One son-Roger Taylor of Gallatin, TN Two daughters-Janice Walters & hus. Ken of Murfreesboro, TN Sandra Baker & hus. John of Bowling Green One brother-Gary Taylor & wife Omega of Mammoth Cave Four sisters-Edna Logsdon of Cub Run Nannie Bell Logsdon of Cub Run Deloris Logsdon of Glasgow Barbara Lee of Hodgenville Six grandchildren-Valerie Potts, Brian Taylor, Jenny Thurman, Nathan Walters, Isaac Baker & Luke Baker Five great-grandchildren-Josh Ferguson, Ben Ferguson, Quinn Thurman, Emma Walters, Arlie Thurman Funeral services for David G. Taylor will be 1:30pm Sunday, Feb. 3 in the chapel of Sego Funeral Home with Bro. Malcolm Doyle officiating. Visitation will be Saturday from 1-5pm and Sunday from 12noon until time for services at the Sego Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Union Light Cemetery with military honors. Memorial contributions may be given to the Union Light Cemetery fund, these can be left at the funeral home. |
