Janice Chatfield, age 80 of Brownsville, departed this life on Wednesday, February 28, 2024 at The Medical Center at Bowling Green.  The Edmonson County native was born on June 28, 1943 to the late Elrie and Bertha Salings Lindsey. She was married to her best friend, Rick Chatfield, who survives.  
 
Janice was a member of Rocky Hill Missionary Baptist Church.  She retired from Mallory Corporation.  Janice was a friend to all that met her.
 
Besides her loving husband, Rick, she leaves several nieces and nephews to honor her memory.  She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Dale and Joe Lindsey, Elaine Skaggs and Margie Browning.

Hazel Bewley Wilson, age 79 of Shepherdsville, departed this life on Saturday, February 24, 2024 at University of Louisville Hospital.  The Edmonson County native was born on June 25, 1944 to the late Wilbert “Bill” and Millie Gipson Bewley.  She was married to her devoted, loving husband of fifty-five years, Tommy Wilson, who survives.
 
Hazel retired as a contact representative with Social Security Administration and the railroad retirement board.  She was a member of Chalybeate United Baptist Church, and also attended Longfield United Baptist Church.  She was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star.   
 
Besides her husband, Tommy, she leaves to honor her memory— her siblings, James “Tinker” Bewley, Clara Napier (M.A.) and Ralph Bewley (Linda), along with several nephews and nieces, who she loved as her own.  She was preceded in death by her twin brother, John Bewley and siblings, Rev. Ossie Bewley, Mary Bryant, Mae Doss and Zula Cowles.  
 
Interment will be in Kinser Cemetery.

J.D. Pierce, 80, of Brownsville passed away Feb 23, 2024 at Hospice House in Bowling Green.

The Edmonson County native was a self employed semi truck driver, a maintenance worker/snow removal specialist for Edmonson County Road Dept. and a member of Fairview United Baptist Church. He was a son of the late Kelly Pierce and Dolly Glass Pierce. He was preceded in death by five brothers, Ecel Pierce, Grover Pierce, Bill Pierce, Buck Pierce and James Pierce; and two sisters, Joyce Wingfield and Janice Morgan.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Tuesday at Gravil Funeral Home with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will take place 2-7 PM Monday and after 10:00 AM Tuesday.

Surviving are his wife, Sheryl Skaggs Pierce; a daughter, Michelle Hagan of Brownsville; a son, Jason Pierce of Brownsville; a sister, Evon Priddy four grandchildren, Stephanie Roberson (Shane), Amber Hagan, Corey Pierce (Keeley) and Carlie Pierce; a great grandchild, Beckett Pierce; and several nieces and nephews.

Camilla Fay “Millie” Clonan, 80, of Park City passed away 4:47 PM Feb. 23, 2024 at TJ Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow.

The Warren County native was an employee of Park Mammoth Resort, having worked as a cook, front desk clerk, hostess and supervisor and was a member of Fairview United Baptist Church. She was a daughter of the late Herman McPeak and Lucille Graves McPeak and the wife of the late John Clonan. She was preceded in death by three siblings, Kathy Hogan, Kenneth McPeak and Richard McPeak.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM Monday at Fairview Cemetery. Gravil Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Surviving are three children, Jackie Ingram (Thomas) of Columbia, Patrick Matthews of Brownsville and Michael Matthews of Park City; two sisters, Helen Hughey and Lavenia “Beanie” Skaggs (Mike) both of Brownsville; five grandchildren; and 14 great grandchildren.

Eddie Wayne Smith, age 57 of Railton, KY, departed this life on Tuesday, February 20, 2024 at the Hospice House in Bowling Green.  The Jefferson County native was born on September 29, 1966 to Wanda Wolfe, who survives, and the late Edgar Smith, Sr.  
 
Eddie was recently saved and became a member of Mt. Zion United Baptist Church.  He loved listening to music, collecting sports cards and was a die-hard Green Bay Packer and Louisville Cardinal fan. 
 
Besides his mom, Wanda of Bowling Green,  he leaves to honor his memory— his daughter, Britney Stanley of Indianapolis, IN; granddaughter, Oakley Stanley; siblings, Jason Wolfe, Tracy Thomas (Nathan), Toni McAnelley (Chris), Edgar Smith (Heather) and Toby Smith; a special uncle and aunt, Raymond Buntain (Loretta), along with several nephews, nieces and cousins.  He was also preceded in death by his step father who raised him, Walter “W.D.” Wolfe and grandparents, Roy Buntain and Tillie Maxwell.   
 
Interment will be in Mt. Zion Church Cemetery.

Bryce Daniel Williams, age 27 of Hindman, Ky, departed this life on Sunday, February 18, 2024. The Edmonson County native was born on June 14, 1996 to the late George E. Williams and Carleen Huff Lucas, who survives.

Bryce was of the Christian faith. He loved listening to music, gaming with his friends and coloring artwork.

Besides his mother, Carleen and her husband Kris of Park City, he leaves to honor his memory— his siblings, George Carroll (Sandra) of Bowling Green, Kristopher Lucas, Justin Lucas and Dylan Lucas (Kyleigh) all of Scottsburg, IN, Kyra Lucas of Austin, IN and Autumn Musgrove (Drew) of Las Vegas, NV, along with several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Toby Ann Van Meter, 83, of Bee Spring passed away Saturday December 30, 2023 at The Medical Center at Bowling Green.

The Edmonson County native was a 1963 graduate of Western Kentucky University and was a Community Action Services Coordinator for 40 years. She was a daughter of the late Noah Samuel Van Meter and Hilda Nelson Van Meter. She was preceded in death by a brother, Jack "J.C." Van Meter.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday Feb. 24th at the Brownsville Community Center, followed by refreshments and by a time of visiting with family and friends.

Surviving are a brother, Kaye Don Van Meter (Jenell); two nephews, Jason Van Meter (Donna) and Shane Van Meter; three nieces, Kim Miller (Bill), Lisa Van Meter, and Dawn Beckley.

Sandra Dee Lindsey, age 54 of Sunfish, departed this life at her residence, with her family by her side on Saturday, February 17, 2024.  The Warren County native was born on February 22, 1969 to the late Charles Lindsey and Helen Mae Embry.  She was married to her soul mate and loving husband of thirty-seven years, Rodney Lindsey, who survives.  
 
Sandra was a member of Sunny Point General Baptist Church.  She had worked in the past as a certified nursing assistant for Health Care.  In recent years, she started her own business, Sunfish Sales.  Being “Mamaw” to her beloved grandbabies is what she enjoyed most. 
 
Besides her husband, Rodney, she leaves to honor her memory— her sons, Rodney Shawn Lindsey (Danielle) of Wingfield and Joshua Illand Lindsey (Rachel) of Sunfish; grandchildren, Gavin Creek, Addison Lindsey, Bailey Lindsey, Jaxon Lindsey and Jameson Lindsey; Godchildren, Madilyn Dowell (River) and Lindel McKinney (Chloe); her siblings, David Haynes (Geraldine), Lisa Rone, Amy Phelps (Timothy), Janetta Crandell (Leroy) and Genevieve McKinney (Randall); step-brother, Lonnie Embry (Wilma), along with several nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her step–dad  who raised her, Calvin Embry.

Mary F. Willis, age 88 of Brownsville, departed this life at her residence, with her family by her side on Saturday, February 17, 2024.  The Watertown, TN native was born on January 23, 1936 to the late Rebel Reeves and Olive Lanham.  She was married to her devoted husband and best friend, Dallas Willis, Sr., until they were parted by his passing on December 1, 2015. 
 
Mary worked as a house-wife, and was a caregiver to her beloved son, Billy, until God called him home.  She was a member of New Home General Baptist Church. Mary dearly loved her family, but left them assurance that she was ready to go see her family, friends and neighbors that were waiting for her.  
 
She leaves to honor her memory— her children, Dallas Willis, Jr. (Marilyn) of White House, TN, Rickey Willis and LuWanda Brooks (Brad), all of Brownsville; grandchildren, Jeramy Willis (Laura), Brittany Turney (Steven), Chris Holt (Sabrina) and Alyssa Brooks and great-grandchildren, Joe Dallas Willis, Silas Levi Holt, Sadie Ann Turney and Haisley Gray Turney. Wayne Thompson, age 75 of Pig, departed this life on Tuesday, February 13, 2024 at The Medical Center at Bowling Green.  The Barren County native was born on February 24, 1948 to the late Buford Woody and Louise Wright Whitaker. He was married to his devoted wife and best friend, Cheryl Lynn Thompson, until they were parted by her death on July 21, 2016.
 
Wayne served our nation in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War era.  He obtained his bachelor’s degree, and worked for many years as a farmer.  Wayne currently served as a board member for the Edmonson County Farm Bureau, and was a former supervisor and chairman of the board for the Edmonson County Soil Conservation District.  He was also a member of the Edmonson County Cattleman’s Association and Park City United Methodist Church.  
 
He leaves to honor his memory— his sons, Michael Thompson (Sherrell) and Josh Thompson (Amber) all of Pig and his adoring grandchildren, MaKaylee Thompson, Connor and Gavin Thompson.  Besides his wife and parents, he was also preceded in death by his step-father, Jess Whitaker.

James Bolton “Jimmy” Shaw, age 88 of Cave City, KY, departed this life on Sunday, February11, 2024 at The Medical Center at Caverna.  The Barren County native was born on June 29, 1935 to the late James Clifton Shaw and Leora Bolton Shaw Locke.  
 
Jimmy served our nation as a captain in the United States Marines.  He obtained his bachelor’s degree from Western Kentucky State College, and worked as an entrepreneur in the restaurant, hotel, banking, farming, and travel industries.  He was a member of Horse Cave Baptist Church, and the Barren County Cattleman’s Association.  Jimmy thoroughly enjoyed traveling, hiking, and viewing all the beauties of the world.  He was the ultimate friend, and always willing to offer a helping hand.   
 
He leaves to honor his memory—his cousins, Jennie Waller of Bowling Green, Roger Smith of Cave City and May-Delle Huet of Arizona; dear friends, Creel and Robin Hatcher of Cave City, along with a host of extended family members and friends.

Noah retired after working for many years as a welder for Campbell Hausfeld.  He was saved as a young man at Jock United Baptist Church, and later joined Poplar Spring United Baptist Church, where he remained a member until his passing.  

Several cousins, friends and neighbors are left to honor his memory.

James “Jim” Agee, age 69 of Brownsville, departed this life on Tuesday, January 30, 2024 in Puerto Morelos, Mexico.  He was born in Nashville, TN on April 6. 1954 to the late James Hubert and Dorothy McCale Agee.  He was married to his best friend, Karen Taylor Agee, who survives. 

Jim obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in forestry and nursing, and retired as a registered nurse from Genex Medical Services in Louisville, KY.  He also worked for many years at The Medical Center at Bowling Green.  Prior to becoming a nurse, he worked for many years in the restaurant industry.  He loved to travel and explore all the beauties of the world and of nature.  Jim was a member of Sewanee Episcopal Church.  

Besides his wife, Karen, he leaves to honor his memory— his children, Jeremy Agee (Melissa) of Brownsville, Brandon Browning (Patty) of Mammoth Cave, Hershel Agee (T.J.) of Brownsville, Kristen Jurisich (Ricky) of Brownsville and Chad Browning (Faith) of Brownsville; thirteen grandchildren; special daughters, Jessica Woods (Brandon), Courtney Gerow (Paul), Christina Flynn and Madison Flynn; one niece, Sansa Fan Agee and his cousin, Janet Jackson.  He was also preceded in death by his brother, Gregory Agee.
