​Anthony Dalton "Tony" Raymer, 70, of Brownsville passed away at 12:07 AM Thursday March 29, 2018 at UK Medical Center in Lexington with his daughters at his side.
 
The Edmonson County native was a heavy equipment operator and a farmer. He was a son of the late Clem Raymer and Byrd Dalton Raymer. He was preceded in death by a son, Anthony Dalton Raymer; two brothers, Knightie Raymer and Eunell Raymer; and a sister, Freeda Raymer.
 
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday at Gravil Funeral Home with burial to follow in New Liberty Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 PM Monday and after 9:00 AM Tuesday.
 
Surviving are two daughters, Suzan Raymer Nunn (Michael) of Bowling Green and Toni Michelle Wood (D.J.) of Brownsville; a brother, Geourman Raymer of Brownsville; two sisters, Brenda Faye Raymer of Louisville and Veneta Raymer of New York; three grandchildren, Reagan Nunn, Lyla Wood and Liam Wood; and several nieces and nephews.

​Margaret Jean Hayes VanMeter, 79, of Bee Spring, passed on to her Heavenly home, with her family by her side, on March 26, 2018 at the Medical Center.

The Edmonson County native was a housewife, beloved mother, and grandmother. She was a member of Bee Spring Missionary Baptist Church. She was born December 11, 1938 to the late Gilbert and Carrie Harp Hayes. She was married for 39 years to the late Arnold L. VanMeter until his death in October 1995.

Funeral will be at 2:00 PM Friday, March 30 at Bee Spring Missionary Baptist Church, with burial to follow in Christian Home General Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 - 8:00 PM Thursday, March 29 at Gravil Funeral Home, and after 10:00 AM on Friday at the church.

She leaves to cherish her memory two sons: Stevie Lee VanMeter (Goretta) of Bee Spring, and Arnold Todd VanMeter (Jennifer) of Bee Spring; and two grandchildren who held a special place in her heart: Keegan Whitney Smith of Lexington, and Shea Lynn VanMeter of Bee Spring; two loving sisters: Phyllis Wilson of Louisville, and Helen VanMeter (McNeil) of Bee Spring; a special brother: Athel “Bubba” Hayes of Bee Spring; and two brothers-in-law: Jasper Woodcock of Sunfish, and Vernon Vincent of Louisville.

She was preceded in death by four sisters: Ruelmer Jaggers (Lester), Ocia Elmore (Richard), Dessie Woodcock, and Barbara Vincent; two brothers: Jessie Hayes (Vickie) and Rev. Essie Hayes (Lola May); a sister-in-law: Lola Hayes; and a brother-in-law: Jim Wilson.

​Ray Ramsey, age 89, of Leitchfield, KY, passed away Thursday, (March 22, 2018) at his home.
 
He was born on September 22, 1928 in Riverton, IL, the son of the late Esthus D and Cora Mae Leach Ramsey.
 
He was a retired farmer, school bus driver for 50 years, truck driver and retired from the local ASC office, who enjoyed fishing, hunting, working jigsaw puzzles and was an avid UK fan and was a 50 year member of the Leitchfield Masonic Lodge and a 64 year member and deacon of the Little Clifty Baptist Church.
 
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Cuba Jean Wadlington Ramsey, two sons, Mike Ramsey (Patty) of Chalybeate KY, and Glen Ray Ramsey Jr (Sharon) of Clarkson, two daughters, Glenda Brocato (Brock) of Louisville and Nancy Kiper (Otis) of Leitchfield  seven grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.
 
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Albert, Cecil and James Ramsey.
 
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, (March 27, 2018) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Bros. Gerry Otahal and Bro. Chester Shartzer will be officiating. Burial will be in the Leitchfield Memory Gardens.
 
There will be a masonic service Monday evening at 5 p.m. at the funeral home.
 
Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday and from 9:00 a.m. Tuesday until time of services.

Jesse R. Mills, 80 of Bowling Green died Thursday, March 22, 2018 at Glasgow State Nursing Facility.

The Edmonson County native was a son of the late Carl and Naomi Wilson Mills and is preceded in death by his wife Barbara Jean Harlow Mills, two sons, Michael Mills and Carlos Lee III, one brother, Paul Mills.  He was in construction and a member of Boiling Springs Baptist Church. 

His survivors include a step daughter, Brenda Carol Goad (Jeff), four grandchildren, Thomas Goad, Bonnie Goad, Chip Lee, Hunter Goad; five great grandchildren, Taylor Howard, Kayleigh Bratcher, Tanner Goad, Bryleigh Self, William Lee; three brothers, Kenneth Mills (Bonnie), Mike Mills (Eula), Roger Mills (Lisa); six sisters, Pauline Ward (Bill), Barbara Russell (Joe), Eva Barnes, Linda Cardwell (Bob), Kim Morris, Pat LaMastus; several nieces and nephews.

​Willie Roy Brooks, age 66 of Park City, KY departed this life on Friday, March 23, 2018 at The Medical Center at Bowling Green.  The Edmonson County native was born on January 23, 1952 to the late Carlton Brooks and Cora Alice VanMeter Brooks.  He was married to his devoted wife, Donna Wilkerson Brooks, who survives. 

Willie retired as the transportation supervisor for Mammoth Cave National Park, and was a member of Cedar Hill United Baptist Church. 

Besides his wife, he leaves to honor his memory— one daughter, Jessica Simpson (Devin) of Sunny Point; one son, Kent Brooks (Shaina) of Park City; three granddaughters, Makayla Brooke Simpson, Adelynn Mae Simpson and Ruby Elora Alice Simpson; two brothers, Ray Brooks of Louisville and Reed Brooks of Brownsville and three sisters, Sylvia Stinnet of Leitchfield, Nellie Wright (Butch) of Brownsville and Deborah Reynolds (Dennis) of Glasgow.  He was preceded in death by three sisters and seven brothers.

​Charlie Decker, age 76 of Brownsville, KY departed this life on Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, TN.  The Jefferson County native was born on July 25, 1941 to the late Charles G. Decker, Sr. and the late Mildred Louise Decker. 

Charlie retired as a truck driver, and was a member of Pleasant Union United Baptist Church.

He leaves to honor his memory— two daughters, Melissa Kay Warner (Paul) of Louisville and Stephanie Lynn Howard of Bowling Green; six grandchildren, Kristin Bengtson, Matt Warner, Megan Bengtson, Zachery Warner, Tabitha Warner and Molly Warner and four great grandchildren, Isabella Warner, Silas Warner, Sophia Mooney and Tracy Warner.  He was preceded in death by one son, Tracy Decker.

​Dr. Ray H. Houchin, 83, of Park City, KY, passed away Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at The Medical Center in Bowling Green. The Edmonson County native was born on January 15, 1935 to the late Mark Houchin and Camilla Howard Houchin. He was married to the late Meleta Houchin and Sharon Rhea Houchin.
 
Dr. Houchin practiced as a chiropractor for over 57 years, and was the owner of Dr. Ray H. Houchin Chiropractic. He was a member of Park City Masonic Lodge #934 F & AM, Kentucky Association of Chiropractors and Cedar Springs United Baptist Church.

He is survived by his son, Chuck Houchin (Aaron) of Mt. Sterling; one stepson Troy Perkins (Leslie) of Bowling Green; one stepdaughter, Debbie Childress of Booneville, IN; four grandchildren, Cindy Russelburg, Josh Hess, Lydia Perkins, Grant Perkins; six great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Beverly Houchin; special friend, Brenda Keown and several nieces and nephews. ​Walter D. “W. D.” Wolfe, 81, of Chalybeate, KY passed away on Sunday, March 18, 2018 in Louisville. The Edmonson County native was born on March 25, 1936 to the late Carl and Chlorene Vincent Wolfe. He was married to Wanda Lee Buntain Wolfe, who survives.

W.D. was a retired operations manager for Armour Food Co., and  also worked for the Transportation Department of Edmonson Co. School District.  He was a member of Mt. Zion United Baptist Church.

Besides his wife, he leaves to cherish her memory– two sons, Eddie Wayne Smith of Shelbyville and Jason D. Wolfe of Bowling Green; one daughter, Karen Pierce (Kevin) of Louisville;  one brother, Ray C. Joann Alexander Self, 83, of Bowling Green passed away at 5:45 AM Sunday March 18, 2018 at The Medical Center at Bowling Green.
 
The Edmonson County native was a loving wife and mother. She was a daughter of the late Owen Alexander and Hazel Brockett Alexander and the wife of the late McClellan Self. She was preceded in death by a sister, Gwendolyn Meredith.

​Roberta Decker, 90, of Mammoth Cave, KY passed away on Sunday, March 18, 2018 at Hospice Center of Southern Kentucky.  The Edmonson County native was born on June 3, 1927 to the late Pink and Lillie Ashley Hayes. She was married to the late Wilburn C. Decker, a homemaker and a member of Jock United Baptist Church.

She leaves to cherish her memory– one son, Larry Decker (Joanne) of Brownsville; three daughters, Sharon Decker of Bee Spring, Sue Logan (Dickie) and Sandy Childress (Buck) both of Mammoth Cave, KY; one brother, Frank Hayes (Diane) of Bowling Green, KY; one sister, Patsy Carroll of Bee Spring, KY; nine grandchildren, Bill Decker (Stacie), Kim Purcell, Chris Brooks, Wayne Decker, Jerame Logan (Ann), Joey Logan (Christy), Scooter Childress, Kenton Webb (Rose), Kasideigh Webb and thirteen great grandchildren.

​Jerry V. Meredith, age 80 of Bee Spring departed this life on Thursday, March 8, 2018  in Bowling Green. The Edmonson County native was born on June 8, 1937 to the late Jack B. Meredith and Maggie Carroll Meredith.

Jerry began his walk with Jesus in 1956.  He was a devout Christian, member and deacon of New Salem General Baptist Church.  He retired after forty-five years as a foreman of the Laborers International Union of  North American Local Number 1392.   Jerry loved his work and took pride in his part in constructing many structures on Western Kentucky University’s campus. 

Jerry married the love of his life, Frances Stewart, on June 12, 1959.  This union brought forth four children who honor his memory— one son, Jeff Meredith of Bee Spring and his three daughters, Donna Skidmore (Michael) of Smiths Grove, Ronna Smith (Kerry) of Paducah and Vanessa Vaughn (Dean) of Bowling Green.  He is further survived by seven grandchildren, Whitney Howard (Michael), Brandon Skidmore, Steffan Meredith, Dillon Meredith, Clay Meredith (McKenna), Mallory Lane Vaughn and Maggie Smith and two great grandchildren, Laynee Meredith and Ella Beth Meredith.  Jerry was a dedicated family man and his greatest joy was time spent with Frances and his children. 

Interment will be in New Salem Church Cemetery.

​Maxine Harris Welch, age 72, passed away on Saturday March 3rd, 2018. She was a native of Hazelhurst, MS., and a resident of Winder, GA. at the time of her death. 
 
The Barrow County resident was a homemaker. She is the daughter of the late Frank Dillard Harris and Louise Wilson Harris, and the wife of the late Bennie Welch. She was preceded in death by a son, Samuel Gayle Potts Jr., and a brother, Eugene Harris.

​Joe Tunks, age 69 of Mammoth Cave, KY departed this life on Monday, March 5, 2018 at his residence. The London, KY native was born on January 15, 1949 to the late Joseph L. Ryan and the late Juanita Galloway Tunks. He was married to Joy E. Tunks, who survives.

Joe retired from Woodcraft Industries, and was a member of Barren River Baptist Church. He coached baseball and football in Warren County for over twenty years, and was a member of the Warren County Youth Football Hall of Fame.  

Besides his wife, he leaves to cherish his memory- four sons, Kristen Tunks of Bowling Green, Jason Tunks (Stephanie)  of Bowling Green, K.B. Tunks (Shelly) of Bowling Green and Justin Tunks of Columbus, OH; two stepsons, Matthew Hamilton of Brownsville and Joseph Thornsberry (Misty) of Chalybeate; one stepdaughter, Dorie Phelps (David) of Beaver Dam; four grandchildren; nine step grandchildren; one great grandchild and four step great grandchildren.

​Dale Conrad Hurley, age 72 of Park City departed this life on Thursday, March 1, 2018 at his residence.  The Crumpler, NC native was born on September 16, 1945 to the late Avery Hurley and the late Clemmie Bare Hurley.  He was married to Doris Brown Hurley, who survives. 

Dale retired after thirty years at Southern States. He was a member, deacon and clerk of Walnut Hill Baptist Church. Dale was also a former member of Park City Sportsman Club, Barren Bass Masters, Kentucky Colonel and former assistant fire chief for Park City Fire Department.

Besides his wife, he leaves to honor his memory-- one son, Shannon Hurley (Janie) of Park City; one daughter, Bethann Payne (Dale) of Park City; nine grandchildren, Clifton Hurley, Rebecca Hurley, Steven Birge, Scarlett Birge, Elisabeth Payne, Shephard Payne, Mavric Payne, Annalise Payne, Trison Payne and three nephews, Michael Jones (Jennifer), Rocky Jones (Cynthia) and Chris Jones (Jill).
