​Marvis E. Barrick, Sr., age 94 of Park City, KY , departed this life on Wednesday, March 27, 2019 at his residence. The Barren County native was born on February 14, 1925 to the late Wendell Barrick and the late Virgie Houchens Duvall. He was married to Jane H. Barrick, who survives.

Marvis was a member of Merry Oaks Methodist Church and was a Navy WWII Veteran. He was a former employee of Lessenberry Do It Center and was a lifelong farmer.

Besides his wife, he leaved to honor his memory, three sons, Fred Bullock (Gloria) of Glasgow, Mark Barrick (Marilyn) of Park City and William Barrick (Rubi) of Ft. Myers, FL; one daughter, Ann Young (Joe) of Smiths Grove; two brothers, Joe Duvall (Lou Venia) of Park City and Clifford T. Duvall (Judy) of Park City; one sister, Loretta B. Nelson of Morgantown; four grandchildren, Amanda Bullock Costellow (Mike), Brandon Barrick (Kari) , Audra Barrick Bickford (Ward) and Blake Barrick (Hattie); one step grandchild, Megan Bailey Komar (Josh); two
Great grandchildren, Joseph Bowden and Luther Brant; one step great grandchild, Bailey Reece. He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Hershel Duvall, one sister and one brother.

​Interment will be in Merry Oaks Cemetery with military honors by the Barren County DAV.

​Glen Spear, age 67 of the Pine Grove community, departed this life on Wednesday, March 27, 2019 at Albert B. Chandler UK Health Care Center in Lexington, KY. The Barren County native was born on October 19, 1951 to the late Carl and Leona Brown Spear.   He was married to Glenda Vincent Spear, who survives.

Glen was employed for almost forty-three years as a press manager with Park City Daily News, and retired from Wingfield Volunteer Fire Department and Edmonson County Rescue Squad.  He was a member of Mt. Zion United Baptist Church, and often used the talent that God gave him by singing, “Don’t Worry About Me”.

Besides his wife, he leaves to honor his memory— four brothers, Robert Spear (Cora), Ed Spear (Pat), Harold Spear and Elmer Spear (Judy) all of Glasgow; one sister, Ruth Nole (Jerry) of Bowling Green; brother-in-law, Mike Goad (Pam) of Glasgow; several nieces and nephews.  He was also preceded in death by one sister, Linda Spear Goad.

Interment will be in Pine Grove Baptist  Church Cemetery.

​Doris Jean Bennett Coats, age 80, of Cave City, KY, departed this life on Saturday, March 16, 2019 at her residence.  The Hardin County native was born on May 29, 1938 to the late William Henry and Mary Agnes Nichols Bennett. She was married to Noah Mitchell Coats, who preceded her in death.

Doris was a housewife, and a member of Cave City Baptist Church. 

She leaves to honor her memory-- one son, Noah Coats of Cave City; one granddaughter, Hannah Renee Coats of Bowling Green; several cousins, nieces and nephews.  She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Vickie Lynn Coats; three brothers, Carl Vincent, Jackie and Blaine Bennett and four sisters, Eva Smith, Barbara Poynter, Sue Morrison and Betty Thomas. 

Interment will be in Camp Ground Cemetery.

Bro. Curtis Owen Trulock, 93 of Munfordville passed away Sunday night at Signature Health Care in Horse Cave.  He was born in Cub Run to the late Ernest & Glenna Craddock Trulock. Bro. Owen was an ordained Baptist preacher, a member of the Cub Run Baptist Church, a retired farmer and a veteran of the U.S. Army.

He was preceded in death by his wife Pearl Thompson Trulock, two sisters Margie Milby and Lorain Wright, by four brothers Oral, Elvin, Elmo & Shelby Trulock

​Mitzie Gail Lashley Pruitt, 62, of Bee Spring passed away peacefully at 3:08 AM Thursday March 14, 2019 at her home.
 
The Edmonson County native was food service coordinator for Southern Kentucky Community Action Agency and a member of Providence Baptist Church in Leitchfield. She was a daughter of the late Samuel Thomas "Sam Tom" Lashley and Geneva Lawrence Lashley of Sunfish, who survives and the wife of the late Mike Pruitt. She was preceded in death by grandparents, Arey and Carrie Lawrence.
 
A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date. No other services will be held.
 
Surviving are a son, Jason Durbin (Jenny) of Bee Spring; two daughters, Amber Pruitt (David Stewart) of Bee Spring and C.J. Pruitt of Kingsport, TN; two sisters, Sandy Shaw of Falls of Rough and Jeneane Carroll (Bobby) of Bee Spring; and five grandchildren, Christian Durbin, Abby Durbin, Arey Durbin, Dustin Hayes and Tyler Hayes.

Kenneth C. Cline, 69 of Bowling Green died peacefully at his residence with family at his side

The Warren County native was a son of the late Horace and Mildred Doolin Cline and husband of the late Julie Bell Miller Cline. He was a construction worker and a member of Penns Chapel Church of Christ. 

His survivors include his four sons, Kenneth Ray Cline, Joe Allen Cline, Robert Dale Cline (Rita Gale), Christopher Dale Cline (Tanya); 14 grandchildren; four great grandchildren; one brother, Joel Cline (Penny), four sisters, Jannet Cline, Shirley Cline, Gina Cline and Juanita Nichols (Doug); several nieces and nephews and a close friend Kenneth Moran.

Funeral service 1:00 p.m. Monday at Hardy & Son Funeral Home, Bowling Green Chapel with burial in Penns Chapel Cemetery. Visitation 12:00 - 8:00 p.m. Sunday and 9:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. 

Ray A. Vincent, age 70 of Mammoth Cave, KY, departed this life on Monday, March 11, 2019 in Leitchfield, KY. The Edmonson County native was born on April 13, 1948 to the late Rev. Bob and Gladys Hester Vincent. 

Ray was a farmer, and a member of Ollie United Baptist Church.

He leaves to honor his memory-- one daughter, Chasity Livingston-Cook (Don) of Mammoth Cave; one granddaughter, Marlina Livingston of Mammoth Cave; one brother, Billy Vincent of Mammoth Cave; three sisters, Patricia Carroll of Mississippi, Terisa Vincent of Brownsville and Lisa Hogan of Owensboro. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Rodney Vincent, and nephew, Shawn Sanders. 

Interment will be at Ollie Cemetery.

Mrs. Ethel Cooke, age 98 of Brownsville, KY, departed this life on Saturday, March 9, 2019 in Brownsville. The Edmonson County native was born on May 3, 1920 to the late Fred Thomas and Lula Myrtle Tunks Webb. She was married to Elmer Cooke, who preceded her in death.

Mrs. Ethel received her Master’s of Education from Western Kentucky Teachers State College, and retired from Edmonson County School System after forty-two years of teaching first grade.  She was also a member of Fairview United Baptist Church.

She leaves to honor her memory— one brother, Donald B. Webb of Bowling Green; one sister-in-law, Ann Webb of Brownsville; two nieces, Gayla Webb Miller (Jim) and Barbara Webb Menefee (Scott); five nephews, Danny Spillman (Roberta), Rick Webb, Tommy Webb (Barbara), Kerry Webb and Craig Webb (Louise); several great nieces and nephews.  Besides her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by her siblings, David Webb and Maxine Spillman; sister-in-law, Marcella Hensley Webb and brother-in-law, L.G. ​Terry Ray Massey, age 70, of Wingfield, departed this life on Wednesday, March 6, 2019 in Bowling Green.  The Edmonson County native was born on July 17, 1948 to the late Porter J. and Willodean Potter Massey.  He was married to his best friend and help mate, Kathy Massey, who survives. 

Ray was a U.S. Army veteran and served during the Vietnam era.  He retired as a injection molder from Saturn, and also worked as a diesel mechanic and farmer. Ray was a member and deacon at Pleasant Grove (Miller Hill) Missionary Baptist Church. 

Besides his wife, he leaves to honor his memory-- one son, Jamie Massey (Richard Coomer) of Louisville; one daughter, Sondra Massey (Martin Hickey) of Memphis, TN; six grandchildren, Jessica Lindsey, Morgan Lindsey (Kayla), Richard Martin, Faith Martin, John Michael Mills and Samantha Massey; seven great-grandchildren; three brothers, Steve Massey, Ronnie Massey (Melita) and Dale Massey (Melissa) and his mother-in-law, Flossie Logsdon.

​Elmer Dale Huffman, age 93, of Bee Spring, KY departed this life on Monday, March 4, 2019 in Bowling Green. The Edmonson County native was born on April 19, 1925 to the late Thomas and Anise Huffman.  He was married to Helen Huffman, who survives. 

Mr. Huffman was a former Kentucky state trooper, and retired from Edmonson County Schools as a teacher in 1988. He was also a member of Brownsville Missionary Baptist Church, Edmonson County Historical Society and Washington Meredith Masonic Lodge #355 F&AM. 

He leaves to honor his memory-- one son, Clyde Huffman (Deb) of Santa Rosa Beach, FL; three grandchildren, Chad Huffman (Alison), Christina Mills and Shannon Daniel (Paul); eight great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

​Roy “Noots” Simmons, age 75 of Wingfield, KY, departed this life on Monday, March 4, 2019 at The Medical Center in Bowling Green. The Edmonson County native was born on March 8, 1943 to the late James W. and Sallie Hawks Simmons. He was married to Redea Wilson Simmons, who survives.

Noots was a carpenter, farmer and a member of Wingfield United Baptist Church.

Besides his wife, he leaves to honor his memory— two daughters, Teresa Bowley and Janice Duke (Sammie) both of Bowling Green; three brothers, James Simmons (Jean), Lawrence “Bunny” Simmons (Jane) and Bennie “Buck” Simmons (Donna) all of Wingfield; one sister, Sandy Miller (Jerry) of Wingfield; eight grandchildren, Nikki Bowley, Karin Bowley, Savannah Bowley, Makaila Palmer, Brooke Duke, Addie Miller, Macy Miller and Leroy Miller; several nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by one sister, Delphia Buchanan, and five brothers, Charlie, Raymond, Guy “Tootle”, J.C. and Ernest Simmons.

Rudy VanMeter, age 62 of Bee Spring, KY, departed this life on Monday, March 4, 2019 at The Medical Center in Bowling Green.  The Edmonson County native was born on June 28, 1956 to the late Nathan VanMeter, Jr. and Gusteen Meredith VanMeter. 

Rudy retired as manager from Bee Spring Lumber Company, and was a member of Jock United Baptist Church.

He leaves to honor his memory-- one sister, Diane VanMeter of Bee Spring; three aunts, Oleta Lashley of Leitchfield, Regina VanMeter of Bee Spring and Sue Vincent (Jimmy L.) of Brownsville; one niece, Heather Wilson (Cody) of Chalybeate; two nephews, Marcus Johnson (Rachael) of Minneola, FL and Wes Sandlin (Melissa) of Hendersonville, TN; several cousins and a host of friends.  Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Kathy Johnson and Carolyn Duvall.

 Arpa Jane Johnson, 74, of Bowling Green passed away Friday March 1, 2019 at The Medical Center at Bowling Green.
 
The Warren County native was a retired machine operator for Nyloncraft. She was a daughter of the late C.A. Poteet and Ethel Spinks Poteet Wilson. She was preceded in death by a step father, Elvis Wilson; a sister, Sherian Montgomery and her husband, Richard; a brother, Gene Poteet; a niece, Angela Montgomery; and a great niece, Annie Jackson.
 
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday at Gravil Funeral Home with burial to follow in Boiling Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be 3-8 PM Monday and after 9:00 AM Tuesday.
 
Surviving are two daughters, Paula Wood (Robert) of Gallatin, TN and Pam Heidelberger (Scott) of Chalybeate; a sister, Shelia Sanders (Paul) of Rocky Hill; three grandchildren, Kasey Sweeney (Michael), Samantha Smith (Jacob) and Darin Wood (Sally); and two great grandchildren, Sophia Heidelberger and Layla Smith.

​Gary Adwell, age  67, of Cave City, KY, departed this life on Saturday, March 2, 2019 at his residence.  The Barren County native was born on April 11, 1951 to the late Frill and Edith Aileen Short Adwell.  He was married to Donna Rena Sturgeon Adwell, who survives. 

Gary was a former employee of Hart County Creamers, Techno Trim and ACK. He was a member of  New Hope Missionary Baptist Church. 

Besides his wife, he leaves to honor his memory-- three sons, Chris Adwell (Kim) and Jason Adwell (Amy) both of  Cave City and Kendall Adwell (Courtney) of Rocky Hill; five grandchildren, Clayton Wilson, Jared Adwell, MacKenzie Middleton, Jesse Adwell and Eli Adwell and several nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by one grandson, Matthew Adwell, and one sister, Linda Edwards.
