Gavin Taylor Hankins

Gavin Taylor Hankins, 24 of Bowling Green died Wed. April 29, 2015 at his residence.

The Warren County native was a member of Fairview General Baptist Church and a Marine Corp Veteran. He is preceded in death by a maternal grandfather, Roy “Windy” Wingfield. He was an Edmonson County High School graduate. 

His survivors include his parents, Danny and Lisa Hankins; his sister, Lona Phelps (Barry); Paternal grandmother, Wanda Adams; maternal grandmother, Judy Copas (Danny), two nieces, Lilli and Hayleigh Phelps; one aunt Donna Hooper (Tim); four uncles, Greg Hankins (Kim), Tony Hankins, Roy “Uncle Bubba” Wingfield, Jr., J. E. McGonigal (Lindsay) several cousins and his special pets, Aries the dog and Richard the lizard and a special little boy whom he loved like a son, Luke.

Funeral service 2:00 p.m. Sunday at Hardy & Son Funeral Home, Bowling Green Chapel with burial in Kinser Cemetery with Military Honors. Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. -2:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Ollie Mae Duvall, age 75, of Bee Spring, KY, departed this life on Sunday, April 26, 2015 in Louisville, KY.  The Edmonson County native was born on January 7, 1940 to the late Hade and Nellie Carroll Stinnett and was the wife of the late Coy L. Duvall.

She was a homemaker and  was a  member of Hubsfield Holiness Church. 

She is survived by six sons, Shelby Duvall of Brownsville, Lannie Duvall, Arvil Duvall, Lynn Duvall  and Don Duvall all of Bee Spring and Darrell Duvall of Peonia; two daughters, Betty Duvall of Bee spring and Mary Gladys Decker (David) of Anneta; two brothers, James Stinnett (Brenda) of Falls of Rough and Dewey Ray Stinett of Anneta; four sisters, Francis Toms and Doris Whobrey (Ernest) both of Anneta, Sally Duvall (Jackie) of Sunfish and Imogene Fleener of Cave City; five grandchildren and six great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by a grandson, Rob Huffman 

Interment will be in  Fred Jake Meredith Cemetery with Bro. Lendon Robertson and Bro   Thomas Meredith officiating.

Margie Louise (Williams) Spencer

Margie Louise (Williams) Spencer, 84, passed from this life on Tuesday April 14, 2015. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Robert Lee Spencer, Sr., a son, Robert Lee Spencer, Jr.; and a granddaughter, Chasity Nicole Harrison. She is survived by a son, Bill Spencer (Judy); daughters, Marilyn Miller (Ronnie), Phyllis Caskey (Jim), Margie Stump (Joe), and Joyce Brookshire (Terry); sister Jessie Knoechelman; brother, Johnny Williams (Barbara); 19 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild. 

A service to celebrate Margie's life will be held at noon on Saturday in the Southern Chapel of Arch L. Heady & Son, 3601 Taylor Blvd. in Louisville, KY.  Interment will be held on Monday April 20th at 11:00 am at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central. Visitation will be from 12-8 pm on Friday. J.C. Simmons, 87, of Bardstown passed away April 24, 2015
 
     The Edmonson County native was a retired employee of Culligan Water Co. He was a son of the late James Simmons and Sally Hawks Simmons. He was preceded in death by a son, Donald Simmons; a sister, Delpha Buchannon; four brothers, Charlie, Raymond, Guy (Tootle) and Ernest Simmons.
 
     Funeral will be at 11 AM Wednesday at Wingfield United Baptist Church, where he was a member, with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM Tuesday at the church. Schoppenhorst, Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home in Shepherdsville and Gravil Funeral Home are in charge of arrangements.
 
     Surviving are two daughters, Linda Cobb (Anthony) and Darlene White; three sons, Tommy Simmons, Michael Simmons and Joel Simmons (Cathleen); four brothers, James Simmons, Lawrence Simmons, Bennie (Buck) Simmons and Roy Simmons; 15 grandchildren; and 22 great grandchildren.

BROWNSVILLE, Ky.- Dora P. Luttrell, 98, of Brownsville passed away at 11:05 AM April 25, 2015 at Edmonson Care and Rehabilitation.
 
     The Edmonson County native was a machine operator retired from Cutler-Hammer and a member of Pleasant Union United Baptist Church. She was a daughter of the late James A. Houchin and Ella Basham Houchin and the wife of the late J.D. Luttrell. She was preceded in death by a son, Darrell Luttrell;  three brothers and five sisters.
 
     Funeral will be at 2:00 PM Tuesday at Gravil Funeral Home with burial to follow in Pleasant Union Cemetery. Visitation will be 7-9 PM Sunday, 9 AM-9 PM Monday and after 9 AM Tuesday.
 
     Surviving are three sons, Rayburn Luttrell (Carolyn), Jimmy Luttrell (Sharon) and Gerrald Luttrell all of Brownsville; a sister, Hazel Houchin of Louisville; four grandchildren, Tony Luttrell (Allison), Jackie Luttrell-Greenwalt (Darren), Dustin Luttrell and Tara Luttrell; and two great grandchildren, Brenna Luttrell and Wade Luttrell.

     The Jefferson County native was a disabled machine operator for Gamble Brothers and Louisville Bedding. He was a son of the late Robert James Meredith and Oma Brooks Meredith.
 
     Funeral will be at 11 AM Tuesday at Nolin United Baptist Church, where he was a member,  with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be 5-9 PM Sunday, 9 AM-9 PM Monday and 9-10:15 AM Tuesday at Gravil Funeral Home.

She was a loyal housewife, mother and member of Beech Grove Baptist Church.

She retired from Kelwood Manufacturing as a seamstress and was a member of Christian Home General Baptist Church .

She is survived by one daughter, Kathy Rich (Terry) of Bee Spring; one son, Dallas Woodcock (companion Diane); eight grandchildren, Brian Woodcock (Dana) of Bee Spring, Craig Board (Kasey) of Bowling Green, Melissa Hennion (Kenny) of Cedar Springs, Shaye Bailey of Bowling Green, Whitney Bohn (David) and Adam Schultz (Jennifer) both of Louisville, Matt Rich (Ashley) of Bowling Green and Scott Woodcock (fiancee’ Taylor) of Bowling Green; seventeen great grandchildren and a sister-in-law, Alice Lewis of Bowling Green. Venita Morris Meredith, age 79, of Bee Spring, KY, departed this life on Wednesday, April 22, 2015 at her daughter’s residence. The Edmonson County native was born on July 19, 1935 to the late Fred and Lottie Davis Morris and was the devoted wife to Bro. Clement Meredith, who preceded her in death.

She retired from Brownsville Deposit Bank as Branch Manager; was a member of Bee Spring Missionary Baptist Church; a charter member of the Ladies Auxiliary to VFW Post #6937 and Edmonson County Election Commissioner and Democratic Executive Committee member for twenty-four years.

She leaves to honor her memory, her daughter and son-in-law, Malea and Edwin Vincent of Bee Spring.

Interment will be in New Home General Baptist Church Cemetery with Bro. Jerry Patton officiating.

Jeanette Jeffries, age 77, of Park City, KY departed this life on Monday, April 20, 2015 at her residence.  The Barren County native was born on February 17, 1938 to the late Sammy and Mary Ruth Morgan and was married to Junior Jeffries, who survives. 
 
She was a retired nursing aide from Glasgow State Nursing Facility and was a member of  Barren County Baptist Church. 
 
Besides her husband, she is survived by two sons, Timmy Jeffries (Tracy) and Eddie Jeffries both of Park City; two daughters, Teresa Toms (Robbie) and Debbie Bush (Donnie) both of Park City; three sisters, Dorothy Holmes of Glasgow, Virginia Mercer of Glasgow and Drucella Cowles (Rick) of Bowling Green; four grandchildren, Casey Parker (Tommy), Dawn Smith (Steven) Jessica Bush and Dillon Key and two great grandchildren, Madison Toms and Bryce Clarkson.  She was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald and A.J. Morgan.

Paul Edward Bullock, age 81, of Bee Spring, KY, departed this life on Friday, April 17, 2015 in Willliamstown, KY.  The Edmonson County native was born on August 15, 1933 to the late Loyd and Helen Lindsey Bullock and was married to the late Maxine Napier Bullock. 

He retired from American Tobacco Company as a machine operator and was a member of Sweeden Missionary Baptist Church.  

He is survived by two sons, Gary Lee Bullock and Eric Wayne Bullock both of Indiana; one daughter, Debra Lynn Hobson of Louisville; two brothers, Woody Bullock (Dorothy) and James Bullock (Myra) both of Brownsville and two sisters, Mary Ann Kinser of Louisville and Rosalie Tunks of Crittenden.  He was preceded in death by two sons, Paul Douglas Bullock and Alan Dale Bullock; two brothers, Frederick Bullock and Loyd Thomas Bullock and two sisters, Martha Meredith and Anna Marie Decker.

     The St Louis, MO native was a retired welder at GM Corvette Assembly and a member of Our Lady of the Caves Catholic Church. He was the son of the late Peter Viviano and Hazel Reckert Viviano. He was preceded in death by a sister, Katie Kope.

Lethel "Jack" Lewis, age 94, of Park City, KY departed this life on Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at his residence.  The Barren County native was born on May 28, 1920 to the late Warner and Maggie Lawrence Lewis and was married to Thelma Williams Lewis, who survives.

He was a farmer, World War II Army veteran, and a member of Oak Grove United Methodist Church.

Besides his wife, he is also survived by one daughter, Patsy "Pat" Matthews (Lonnie) of Temple Hill; two granddaughters, Heather Wilson (Jeff) of Park City and Andrea Smith (Chris) of Temple Hill; five great grandchildren, Laura Wilson, Jackson Smith, Jacob Wilson, Aiden Smith and Austin Smith; one brother, Veachel "Buddy" Lewis of Waco, TX; two sisters, Helen Nichols (J.W.) of Bowling Green and Ruth Higginbotham of Rocky Hill; one sister-in-law, Elizabeth Lewis of Bowling Green; one brother-in-law, Buster Camp of Louisville; three step grandchildren, Randy Matthews (Kim), Rene' Matthews and Ryan Matthews and three step great grandchildren, Tres Matthews, Preston Matthews and Brock Billingsley.

Terril Band, 66 of Smiths Grove died Sunday, April 5, 2015 at the Hospice House of Southern Kentucky.

The Cleveland, Ohio native was a son of the late Jordan C. and Alice Glickson Band.  He was an information technology consultant, a member of Temple Am Shalom in Bowling Green, the Jewish Federation and Epilepsy Foundation, New Salem Masonic Lodge #462 and an avid Bridge player. 

His survivors include his wife, Linda Band; two sisters, Stefanie  Allweiss (Mickey) and Claudia McCord (John) five nieces, Erin Allweiss, Hallie Allweiss Metcalf (Spencer), Marissa Allweiss, Lindsay McCord, Kelly McCord; Several cousins and caregiver, Bradford K. Norris.

Funeral service will be 1:00 pm  Friday at Hardy & Son Funeral Home, Bowling Green Chapel with burial in Fairview Cemetery (Brownsville).  Visitation will be 4:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday  with Masonic service at  7:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Herman Wolfe, 94, of Brownsville passed away at 12:52 AM April 6, 2015 at Skyline Medical Center in Nashville.
 
The Edmonson County native was a construction worker, backhoe operator, farmer and a member of Boiling Springs Church of Christ. He was a son of the late Simon Wolfe and Emma Cash Wolfe and the husband of the late Hilda Louise York Wolfe. He was preceded in death by a son, Lee Wolfe.

Funeral will be at 1:00 PM Thursday at Gravil Funeral Home with burial to follow in New Liberty Cemetery. Visitation will be Noon-8 PM Wednesday and after 9 AM Thursday.

Rev. Ossie Bewley, age 83, of Gary, Indiana, entered into rest on Wednesday, April 1, 2015.

He is survived by his 2 sons: Franklin (Sandra) Bewley and James Bewley; 2 daughters: Nancy Lynn Johnson and Donna Ruth (Jose) Colon; 10 Grandchildren and 17 Great Grandchildren; brother: James Tinker (Norma) Bewley, John (Terri) Bewley, Ralph (Linda) Bewley, Sisters: Zula Cowles, Clara (Ma) Napier, Hazel (Tommy) Wilson. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

Preceded in death by his beloved wife of 51 years Mary J, Bewley (nee Payton); son: Wilbert Wayne Bewley; parents: Wilbert and Millie Bewley;  sisters: Mae Doss, and Mary Bryant.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. from Bocken Funeral Home, 7042 Kennedy Avenue, Hammond, IN (Hessville) with Pastor Larry Brooks officiating. Burial will follow at Chapel Lawn Cemetery in Schererville, IN.

Ossie was a long time resident of Gary, IN. He proudly served our country during the  Korean war as a sergeant in the Army Company C, 509th  Infantry. Ossie enjoyed traveling to many churchs with his wife where they would sing and evangelize. He was a faithfull member of East Gary Gardens Church. Ossie's doors were always opened to families in need in the East Chicago and Black Oak communities; he mentored and raised 41 children beside his own.

He was a loving Husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Shirley Q. Wells, 77 of Rhoda, KY, departed this life on  Wednesday, April 1, 2015 in Bowling Green, KY.  The Edmonson County native was born on  December 17, 1937 to the late Champ and  Christine Coleman Woosley  and was married for 55 years to Charles Wells, who survives. 

She was a  homemaker and  member of Nimble Thimbles, Green River Chapter #577 O.E.S. and  Beaver Dam United  Baptist Church. 

Besides her husband, she is survived by one son, Eddie Wells of Brownsville; one daughter, Christi Russo (Dennis) of O’Fallon, MO; two grandchildren, Chaz Wells and Marjori Russo; one sister, Lahoma Shumaker (Ernie) of Lewis, IN; special brother-in-law, Leo Wells of Bowling Green; several nieces, nephews and cousins.  She was preceded in death by a sister, Phyllis Renfro and two brothers, Jimmy and Kenton Woosley.

Interment will be in  Mt. Pleasant Cumberland Presbyterian Church Cemetery with Bro.  Calvin Bond officiating.

Patricia Vincent 83, of Jeffersontown, KY, departed this life on Tuesday, March 31, 2015 in Jeffersontown KY. The Edmonson County native was born on October 22, 1931 to the late Lester and Lillie Meredith Cole. She was married to the late Charlie Vincent.

She was a loyal Housewife and was a member of Sweeden Missionary Baptist Church.

She is survived by one daughter, Sherri Atkinson of Louisville KY; two grandsons,
Eric Vincent  (Tiara) of Jeffersonville IN and Ryan Atkinson of Louisville KY; one brother Dickie Cole (Myra) of Lindseyville KY.

Interment  will be in Sweeden Cemetery with Bro. Jerry Patton officiating.
