Jocie Anderson Kidwell, 93

​Jocie Anderson Kidwell, 93 of Bowling Green passed away Saturday, April 30, 2016 at Greenwood Nursing and Rehab.

The Cumberland County native was a daughter of the late Richard and Hattie Hopper Anderson and is preceded in death by her husband Raymond Kidwell and two great grandchildren.  She was a seamstress for 32 years at Fruit of the Loom and a member of Martinsville Baptist Church.

Her survivors include her son Larry Kidwell (Linda); two daughters, Donna Kidwell and Dana Hunt (Ken); four grandchildren, Cory Wells, Matt Kidwell (Trenda), Ashley Smith and Jennifer Kidwell Sheffield (Neil); seven great grandchildren; one brother, Hall Anderson (Joyce); two sisters, Stella Jordan and Willa Hayes; several nieces and nephews.
​
Funeral service 1 p.m. Tuesday at Hardy & Son Funeral Home, Bowling Green Chapel with burial in Smiths Grove Cemetery.  Visitation 4-8 p.m. Monday and 11 am til hour of service at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

​Rev. Willie  Webb, age 84, of  Brownsville, KY departed this life on Friday, April 29, 2016 at the Medical Center in Bowling Green.  The Edmonson County  native was born on September 16, 1931 to the late Ditt and Maude Rutherford Webb.  He was married to the late Beulah Ann Carder Webb. 

He was a retired traffic recorder for Kentucky State Highway Dept. and a Army veteran.  He was also a member of Fairview United Baptist Church.

He is survived by one son, A.B. Webb of Brownsville, KY; two grandsons, Ben Webb of Brownsville, KY, James Webb of Brownsville, KY; one granddaughter, Sarah Webb of Brownsville, KY; and one great grandson David Albert Webb of Brownsville, KY.

Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Ralph J. “Bug” Potter, age 83 of Edmonson County, KY, passed away on Thursday, April 28, 2016 at his residence. The Edmonson County native was born on January 15, 1933 to the late Wesley Andrew Potter and the late Ella Mae Cowles Potter. He was the husband of Irene Potter, who survives.

He was a Army Veteran and a member of Pleasant Grove “Miller Hill” Missionary Baptist Church.

Besides his wife, he is survived by one son, Richard Potter (Charla) of Edmonson Co.; one daughter Glenda Crowder (David) of Shepherdsville, KY; one brother, Billy Potter of Edmonson Co.; one sister, Brenda Elmore of Shepherdsville, KY; five grandchildren, Matthew Crowder (Bethany), Cody Deering (Karen), Hannah Potter, John Potter, Callie Sue Potter.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Ed and Tom Potter; five sisters, Louise Wilson, Chloie Weglowski, Dean Massey, Zelma Holder, Margie Brennunstuh.

Burial will be in Wingfield Church Cemetery.

Ruby Faye Miller, 72, of Roundhill passed away at 8:40 PM April 28, 2016 at her home.
 
The Hardin County, TN native was a retired General Electric employee and was a daughter of the late Wiley Roosevelt Dickerson and Nellie Smith Dickerson. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Boehmer; and a sister, Juanita Richardson.
 
Funeral will be at 2:00 PM Sunday at Gravil Funeral Home with burial to follow in Slate Bank Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-8 PM Saturday and after 9 AM Sunday.
 
Surviving are her husband, Jim Miller; a son, James Broadway (Eva) of Hartsville, TN; a daughter, Sharon Miller (Gary) of Roundhill; a step daughter, Missy Johnson of Horse Cave; four brothers, Cotton Dickerson and Wiley Dickerson Jr. both of Paducah, Eugene Dickerson of Cloverdale, IN and Ray Dickerson of Bowling Green; three sisters, Louise Miller of Bowling Green and Pat Keown and Susie Carter both of Paducah; and six grandchildren.

James Edward Mudd, age 69, of Wingfield, KY departed this life on Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at Hospice House of Southern KY. The Missouri native was born on December 20, 1946 to the late Sylvester Mudd and the late Bonnie Dayton Mudd. He was married to Margaret Dement Mudd, who survives.

He was an assembly line worker for General Motors , a member of United Auto Workers and a Vietnam Army veteran.

Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, Edward Mudd of Louisville, KY and Matthew Mudd (Michelle) of Bowling Green, KY; two daughters, Tonya Watson of Festus, MO and Billie Jo Holman (Scott) of Bowling Green, KY; three brothers, Joe Mudd (Diane) of White house, TN, Mike Mudd (Tina) of Festus, MO and Stan Mudd (Trish) of Seven Springs, NC; one sister, Teresa Heyboer of Glasgow, KY; nine grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by one brother, Dennis Mudd and one nephew, Adam Mudd.

The family chose cremation.

She was an Assembly Line worker for Dart container and was a member of the Baptist Church . 

Besides her parents she is survived by her step-father, William Howard Minton of Brownsville, KY; two sisters, Nichole Bratcher (Randall) of Brownsville, KY, Ashley Wilson (Albert) of Burkesville, KY; one niece, Kayleigh Ann Bratcher; one nephew, William Kole Bratcher; boyfriend, Kevin Logsdon of Cave City, KY; grandmother, Beatrice Johnson; several uncles and aunts.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather Gerald York and her paternal grandparents Bobby and Nelma Crump Vanmeter.

​Billy Sullivan, age 74, of Brownsville, KY departed this life on Sunday, April 24, 2016 at Hospice House of Southern KY. The Warren County native was born on August 24, 1941 to the late Clarence Jackson Sullivan and the late Virgie Irene Wingfield Sullivan. He was married to the late Joyce Renfro Sullivan.

He was a retired teacher for Edmonson Co. Schools and a member of Brownsville General Baptist Church.

He is survived by one brother-in-law, Billie Renfro (Donna) of Bowling Green and three sisters-in-law, Lois Hogan (Victor) of Bowling Green, Anna Stewart (Gerald) of Brownsville and Jonell Martin (Leon) of Chalybeate; several nieces and nephews.

Interment will be in Hawkins Cemetery.

She was born in France, but grew up in Fairdale and was a homemaker. She was a daughter of the late Jack Holt and Georgia Jean Shannon Holt. She was preceded in death by a sister, Benita Jones.
 
Funeral will be at 1:00 PM Wednesday at Gravil Funeral Home with cremation to follow. Visitation will be 1-9 PM Tuesday and after 9 AM Wednesday.

Bill Helson, age 85, of Louisville, KY departed this life on Monday, April 18, 2016 at Norton Audobon Hospital. The Edmonson County native was born on March 15, 1931 to the late Robert and Ethel Graves Helson. He was married to Carlene Madison Helson, who survives.

He was a retired material handler for General Electric, a Korean War Air Force Veteran, a member of the Masonic Lodge and of Baptist faith.

Besides his devoted wife, he is survived by one daughter, Gina Knowland (Dennis) of Louisville; two brothers, John Helson (Anna) of Sweeden and LaDon Helson (Nancy) of Crestwood; one sister, Bess Meador of New Castle, IN; two grandchildren, Holly Shively (Brett) of Tallahassee, FL and Kelly Shane (Lillie) of Jeffersonville, IN and four great grandchildren, Eryn Shively, Shane Shively, Wyatt Shively and Keagan Shane. He was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister, Cleve and James Helson and Beatrice Meador.

She was a homemaker and a member of Oak Grove United Methodist Church.

Besides her husband, she is survived by three sons, Andy Johnson (Jennifer) of Park City, Paul “Buck” Johnson (Karen) of Smiths Grove and Adam Johnson (Jennifer) of Cave City; one daughter, Connie Eatmon (Richard) of  Smiths Grove; two sisters, Betty Fitzgeralds ( Delmer) of Byrdstown, TN and Georgia Crabtree of Smiths Grove and five grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by six sisters,  two brothers and husband, James “Jimmy” Johnson.

The Edmonson County native was a retired carpenter and a member of Pleasant Union United Baptist Church. He was a son of the late Noah York and Bertie Gross York and the husband of the late Betty Lou Eggleston York.
 
Graveside service will be at 2:00 PM Sunday at New Liberty Cemetery. No other services are scheduled.
 
Surviving are a brother, Richard York of Brownsville; and many nieces and nephews.

​He is the husband of Jennifer L. Caldwell, who survives.

He was a former truck driver for Contract Express.

Besides his wife and mother he is survived by four sons, Jace Caldwell, Darran, Chris and Brandon Schlatter; one daughter, Aubrey Schlatter; two granddaughters, Kenyah and Kendall Schlatter; stepfather, Darren Raymond; grandmother, Elisabeth Almert; two brothers, Ernest Caldwell and Larry Caldwell (Christine); two sisters, Elizabeth Caldwell (Darryl) and Diane Bardsley (Aaron); close friend, Tammy Magyar (Joe); several nieces and nephews.

Dottie Stevenson, age 67, of Morgantown, KY, departed this life on Monday, April 4, 2016 at her residence in Morgantown, KY. The Jefferson County native was born on October 22, 1948 to the late Frank and Goldie Newton Shea and was married 47 years to Richard Stevenson who survives.

She was a homemaker and enjoyed taking care of her grandchildren and her house plants and was an avid collector of Shirley Temple dolls. She was a member of Temple Hill General Baptist Church where she enjoyed worshiping with friends and family.

Besides her husband, she is survived by two sons, Chad Stevenson (Wanda) of Louisville and Jayden Stevenson of Morgantown; three daughters, Tammy Deweese (Jonathan), Jennifer McCombs (Todd) and Renea Stevenson all of Morgantown; three sisters, Bonnie Haycraft and Paulette Logsdon both of Louisville and Deanna Watts (Jeff) of New Albany, IN; thirteen grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Donnie Shepherd, Buster Shea, and Frank Shea, Jr. and one son, Anthony Wayne Stevenson.

Mikel L. Smith, age 66 of Park City, KY, passed away on Friday, April 1, 2016 in Louisville, KY. He was born on December 26, 1949 in Cave City, KY., to the late Robert Leonard Smith and Ruby Lee Tapscott Smith. He was married to Hazel Gossett Smith of Park City.

He was in Korea on the DMZ during the Vietnam Era as an Army veteran. While in the Army he served 8 years in the Infantry and 12 years in the Air Defense afterwards he retired from Houchens Industries. He was a member Rowletts Baptist Church.

He was an avid golfer and enjoyed bowling, fishing and anything he could do to spend time with family and friends.

He is also survived by one son, Tracy Smith of Glasgow; three brothers, James Smith of Park City, Charles Smith (Dorothy) of Payneville and Leonard Smith (Irene) of Park City; four sisters, Leattia Huff of Park City, Joyce Hester of Park City, Martha Poynter of Cave City and Derenda Jones (Paul) of Park City; Special Nephew, Chris Jones (Leslie) of Park City; three step brothers; three step sisters; several nephews, nieces and host of friends.

He was also preceded in death by one sister, Ada Elizabeth Smith; stepfather, Paul Owen; two stepsisters; one stepbrother; father and mother-in-law, Alvie and Hattie Gossett.

Burial will be in Evergreen with graveside military honors by Barren County DAV Chapter 20.
