JoAnna Davis Dennison, age 72 of Cave City, peacefully entered into her eternal rest on Wednesday, April 28, 2021 at her residence. The Edmonson County native was born on April 7, 1949 to the late Bro. James Lowell and Wilma Brooks Davis. She was married to the love of her life, Richard Lee “Rick” Dennison, until he preceded her in death on December 9, 1988.
JoAnna had many roles. She was a homemaker, mother, sister, aunt and special “Marmie” to her grandchildren. She was a member of Pleasant Union United Baptist Church, and in most recent years attended Hardin County First United Baptist Church with her family. The Lord blessed JoAnna with many gifts. She had the voice of an angel, and the ability to write numerous songs about her unwavering faith and her heavenly home. Some of those spiritual songs include: “This House In Her Glory”, “Cast Your Bread On the Water”, “LeeAnna’s Song” and “I Hear the Trumpets Sounding”. JoAnna enjoyed working with her hands. She had a vivid imagination and could create masterpieces with a paint brush, a piece of sentimental jewelry, with her sewing machine, or outdoors in her landscaped floral garden. She leaves to honor her memory-- two daughters, Amy Thornhill (Bobby) of Brownsville and LeeAnna Hayes (Scottie) of Glasgow; four grandchildren, Michelle Merritt (Patrick), Sierra Rae Ford (Tyler), Seth Isom and Mason Thornhill; five great-grandchildren, Jackson and Stella Merritt, Sophia Rae and Cooper Humphrey and Raleigh Ford; one sister, Joyce Hall of Shepherdsville along with several nieces and nephews. Dewayne was a jovial individual with laughter, joking, and a kind heart. He will be missed by all who knew him. Max is survived by his wife of 42 years, Deborah Lutes Johnson; children, Alex Moore (Tracie), Paul Moore, Karen Hughes (Steve), Carrie Warren (Hank), Tracey Whelan (Joseph); grandchildren, Tristan, Blaine, Susan, Kyle, Amanda, Ian and Sarah; along with several great grandchildren. Max spent his life working in the drywall business and was the current owner, with his wife Debbie, of Max Johnson Drywall in Mt. Washington. He invented the design tool for custom designed ceilings. He was the owner of Calvin Ray's Live Music in Leitchfield, KY after extensive remodeling of the site for his son. Calvin Ray Johnson was a singer who appeared on the local and national Jerry Lewis Muscular Dystrophy Telethon numerous times. The building was sold after Calvin's death. Juanita was a true southern lady, and an exceptional cook. She adored her family and cherished their times spent making memories together at her home. Juanita retired as the food services manager from Park Mammoth Resort, Cave City Convention Center and worked for many years with her niece, Seretta, at the HillTop Restaurant. She was a member of Cedar Hill United Baptist Church and Rocky Hill #279 O.E.S. After attending WKU, she taught school then married Benjamin L. Webb, while he was in pilot training for the U.S. Air Force, during WWII. After several moves with the military, Ben and Joyce made their home in Bowling Green in 1965. Following Ben’s death, Joyce started working at Brownsville Deposit Bank, and retired in 1985 as the head cashier. Joyce was a devout Christian, loving grandmother and a loyal UK fan. She was a member of Eastwood Baptist Church. She leaves to honor her memory— her son, Benjamin L. Webb, Jr. (Susanne) of Birmingham, AL; her grandsons, Jordan Benjamin Webb and Ryan Gabriel Webb along with several nieces and nephews. Joyce had an extended church family, many friends and caregivers that cared for her needs. Imogene Frogge Minton, age 81 of Penns Chapel, was surrounded by her loving family when she peacefully departed this life on Wednesday, March 31, 2021 at her residence. The Edmonson County native was born on July 5, 1939 to the late Herman and Una Logsdon Frogge. She was married on March 24, 1956 to her husband and best friend, Donald Minton, who survives.
Imogene retired from Fruit of the Loom as a seamstress and invoice clerk. She was saved as a young girl at Wingfield United Baptist Church, where she remained a faithful member for sixty-nine years. Besides her husband, she leaves to honor her memory— four children, Donald Wayne Minton (Sherri) of Evansville, IN, Freda Lewis (Larry) of Wingfield, Anita Myers (Robert) of Scottsville and Carolyn Green of Bowling Green; four grandchildren, Joy Jolly (Benton), Kim Wrye (Scott), Justin Green and Scott Minton; five great-grandchildren, Maddie Cline (fiancé Caleb), Macy Wrye, Emma Kate Jolly, Braxton Green and Kellen J. Green and one sister, Betty Eades (Elmer). She was also preceded in death by two grandsons, Adam and Greg Minton; two brothers, Donald and Jerry Frogge and her sisters, Brenda Sheldon and Dorothy Wells.
