Clifford Thomas Ray, age 81, of Brownsville, peacefully departed this life surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, April 8, 2026 at the Hospice House of Southern Kentucky in Bowling Green. The Edmonson County native was born on September 26, 1944 to the late Clifford and Naoma Lottie Rountree Ray. He was married to his devoted wife, help mate and best friend of sixty-two years, Brenda Browning Ray, who survives.
Clifford devoted many years of hard work and dedication to his career, first retiring from Eaton Corporation and later continuing his work until his retirement from Huish Detergents. He took great pride in providing for his family and in the work he did throughout his life. A man of deep and abiding faith, Clifford was a faithful member of Beaver Dam Chapel United Baptist Church—a place he cherished deeply and where his presence was a blessing to all who knew him. His love for the Lord was evident in the way he lived, always offering kindness, warmth, and a welcoming spirit. Clifford truly never met a stranger. His genuine smile and friendly nature had a way of making everyone feel at ease and valued. He carried a light that drew people to him, leaving lasting impressions wherever he went. Above all, Clifford shared a beautiful and devoted life with his beloved wife, Brenda. Together, they found joy in life’s simple pleasures—working side by side in the garden, keeping up the yard work and sharing their daily breakfasts, moments that became cherished traditions. Hand in hand and heart to heart, their love was a testament to companionship, devotion, and enduring partnership. Besides his wife, Brenda, he leaves to honor his memory— his sons, Kevin Ray (Donna) and Keith Ray (Kayla); grandchildren, Kyle Ray (Amanda), Raeleigh Ray, Colton Kitchens and Brylee Kitchens; great-grandchild, Evan Ray; siblings, Morton Ray (Carlene), Gary Ray and Pearlene Blanton (Britt), along with several nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Samuel Leo Ray. The interment will be in Kinslow Cemetery. The Edmonson County native was a certified nursing assistant and a certified central sterile supply technician for Bowling Green Warren County Hospital and The Medical Center at Bowling Green and was a member of Christian Home General Baptist Church. Sandy enjoyed doing cross stitch, working with ceramics, working in her flower garden, listening to gospel music and she loved Christmas. She was a daughter of the late Ezra Oller and Mary Elizabeth Vincent Oller and the wife of the late Chester “Chet” Whobrey. She was preceded in death by a sister, Carol Ann Oller; a brother, Marshall Oller; a son-in-law, Sam Cassidy; a niece, Diane Oller Hall and a nephew, Jimmy Oller. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Monday April 13th at Gravil Funeral Home with burial to follow in Vincent Cemetery. Visitation will take place 1:00-7:00 PM Sunday and after 9:00 AM Monday. Surviving are four daughters, Daneila Cassidy of Bee Spring and Linda Selems, Christine Burden (Bobby) and Kimberly Reels (Kevin) all of Bowling Green; eight grandchildren, Jessica Turley (Wes), Crystal Wright, Isaac Selems (Taylor), Sydney Selems, Haley McPeak (Adam), Robert Burden (Savannah), Cody Pardue and Jordan Watt (Josh); 12 great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; special neighbors, Gary and Carrie Ragland, Joanna Goodman and Gayle Tarrence; and her fur babies, Allie, Big Boy, Little Boy and Miss Kitty. Larry Clemmons, age 78, of Brownsville, departed this life on Monday, April 6, 2026, at his residence. The Edmonson County native was born on January 11, 1948, to the late Clyde and Lois Graham Clemmons. He was married to his devoted wife of fifty-nine years, Danzel Lindsey Clemmons, until they were parted by her passing on August 7, 2025.
Larry was a man defined by unwavering honesty and a work ethic that never wavered. His hands bore the marks of a lifetime of labor, but they also told the story of a man whose greatest joy was caring for his family. He dedicated many years to Chain and Cable before retiring, but retirement did not slow him down. Larry continued working with the same determination, laying asphalt, trimming trees, and tending to the demands of farm life. Whether in the fields raising tobacco or taking on another hard day’s work, he gave his all in everything he did. Larry was more than a hardworking man—he was a true friend and a dependable neighbor. He never hesitated to lend a helping hand to anyone in need, offering his time, strength, and kindness without expecting anything in return. He was also a member of Oak Grove United Baptist Church, a place that remained meaningful to him throughout his life. Above all, Larry loved his family deeply. He took great pride in their lives and accomplishments, always wanting to hear what they were doing. His love was steady and supportive—a foundation his family could always rely on. He leaves to honor his memory— his sons, Junior Clemmons (Teresa) of Pig and Chad Clemmons (Leslie) of Brownsville; grandchildren, Shane Doyel (Kristin), Colten Clemmons (Ginnie), Nick Clemmons, Clay Clemmons and Presley Kendall; great-grandchildren, Hallie Ashley, Layne Ashley, Cade Clemmons, Stevie Rose, Lily and Lena Doyel, along with his special caregivers, Anna Haynes, Betty Vincent and Sherryl VanAcker. Besides his wife and parents, he was also preceded in death by his grandson, Dallas Kendall and siblings, Kenneth and Romie Clemmons, Freda Brooks, Wanda Blanton Lashley and Vanda Davis. Bobby retired after many years of dedicated service at National Bedding Company, where he was known for his strong work ethic and steady, dependable nature. Yet, more than any title or accomplishment, it was Bobby’s unwavering faith that truly defined his life. His relationship with the Lord was not only something he professed, but something he lived out daily—in his words, his actions, and the way he loved others. As a devoted member and deacon of Campbell’s Chapel United Baptist Church, Bobby served with a humble and willing heart. He found great purpose in the work of the church, whether it was supporting his pastor, encouraging fellow members, or simply being present whenever there was a need. His faith was his foundation, his strength, and his guide, and he took great comfort in the promises of God throughout his life. Beyond his service to the Lord, Bobby found joy in life’s simple and meaningful moments. He loved working in his garden, where he could reflect and find peace, and he treasured the time he spent with his family—loving them with the same steady, faithful heart that he carried in his walk with Christ. The Edmonson County native was a 1975 graduate of Edmonson County High School, was a 30-year employee of DESA and a member of Mt. Zion United Baptist Church. She loved going to church and attending family get-togethers. She treasured her grandbabies and was very proud of their academic accomplishments. She was a daughter of the late Gerald Lee York and Beatrice Browning York Johnson of Brownsville, who survives. She was preceded in death by two daughters, Amanda Kay VanMeter and Nichole Leigh Bratcher. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM Friday at Gravil Funeral Home with burial to follow in Midway Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM Friday. Surviving in addition to her mother are two grandchildren, Kayleigh Bratcher (Jason Willis) and William Kole Bratcher both of Brownsville; three sisters, Karen Wingfield (Danny) and Brenda York both of Bowling Green and Linda Carnes of Franklin; two brothers, Jerry York (Jennifer) of Bowling Green and Brent York of Brownsville; her son-in-law, Randall Bratcher Jr. of Brownsville; and her significant other, James Cardwell of Bowling Green. Wesley Garrett Duvall, age 26 of Brownsville, peacefully departed this life on Tuesday, March 31, 2026 at his residence. The Edmonson County native was born on September 29, 1999 to JoAnna Holder Kyle and the late Darrell Lindle Duvall.
Wesley was a 2018 graduate of Edmonson County High School, and will be forever remembered for his warm smile and the happiness he brought to others. Saved as a young boy at Pleasant Union United Baptist Church and later baptized into Jock United Baptist Church, his faith was a quiet and meaningful part of who he was. To know Wesley was to love him! He had a heart that overflowed with kindness and a demeanor that naturally drew people to him. His sense of humor was one of a kind—he had a special gift for impersonating and could bring laughter into any room, often when it was needed most. He treasured time spent with those he loved, whether it was watching college sports, playing cornhole, shooting pool, sharing stories and poking fun, laughing until it hurt, or simply just being together. Those moments, now precious memories, will forever be held close in our hearts. He leaves to honor his memory– his parents, JoAnna and Tim Kyle of Chalybeate; brothers, Will Kyle (Madison) of Bowling Green and Trey Kyle (Harley) of Wingfield; beloved grandparents, Barbara “Bobbie” Holder of Pine Grove, Arnold Duvall (Gladys) of Bee Spring and Bill and Betty Kyle of Chalybeate; niece and nephews, Meredith, Walker and Tate Kyle; special girlfriend, Bailey Collins, along with several dear friends and extended family members whose lives were forever brightened by knowing him. Besides his dad, Darrell, he was also preceded in death by his grandparents, Larry Dale Holder and Charlene Webb Duvall. Though his time here was far too short, Wesley’s life was full of love, laughter, and treasured connections. His presence was a gift, and his memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
